Happy Birthday to James Whitcomb Riley. The beloved Hoosier writer, known as the "Children’s Poet" for his folksy, whimsical prose, is the namesake of @rileychildrens. He was born in 1849 and spent his life as a writer. After passing away at the age of 66 in 1916, an Indianapolis doctor and other friends of Riley wanted to find a way to memorialize him. They decided to open a children’s hospital in his honor. James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children welcomed its first patient in 1924.
