Do you Catch your Snatches like this? Being way too Upright? This happens due to: - limited shoulder mobility/ having a weak rotator cuff - not staying connected during the turnover - just dropping underneath the bar - not actively thinking of your receiving - not getting low enough when doing powers Warm ups to work on weak shoulder/rotator cuff: Work on increasing Rep range before you think of adding weight to these - prone swimmers - Prone or Chest supported YTW’s - Banded Face Pulls + Press - Banded or weighted external rotation Drills to work on the catch: - Snatch Push Press - Snatch Push Jerk - Snatch Balance - Snatch Balance into OHS Once you’ve worked on the receiving position (aka the Catch), transition into working on the turnover: - Hip Power Snatch - Hang Power Snatch You can make these complexes or use the catch exercises as primers for the turnover exercises or use them both as primers for whatever your main lift is. You can even do a Power Snatch into an OHS Cues to think about when doing any of these exercises (but specifically Snatch Powers): - Drive the hips back in the catch - Drive the head through the bar in the catch - catch the power snatch AT exactly 90 degrees - try to feel your heels a bit more when you drive the hips back in the power Try these out for a month or so and let us know how it helps! #olympicweightlifting #tightshoulders #snatch #repmaxperformance #usaweightlifting

ACCESSORIES… do them ‼️ Many of the reasons why we don’t improve or hit a plateau on our main lifts is due to neglecting our accessories. If you aren’t working on strengthening your body with unilateral exercises, isolation exercise, exercises that address your deficiencies our main lifts will suffer. Before you throw your whole program away during a bad day, week or month, be honest with yourself and see if you’re actually doing your accessories or if you’re not pushing yourself enough when doing them. #beanATHLETE #rmp #repmaxperformance

Incorporating No Feet Drills to your Snatches or Cleans can really improve performance. If you don’t know if you should add them to your program, ask yourself the following questions! - Do you struggle keeping balance throughout the foot? - Do you jump back or forward a lot when doing snatches or cleans? - Are you struggling with your pull? - Is your timing off every time you snatch or clean? HOW TO DO A DEFICIT CLEAN DEADLIFT! Similar to a clean deadlift we just increased the range of motion of the movement. This deficit is beneficial for working on maintaining proper control of both position and posture throughout the movement. It also helps with strengthening the first pull off the floor.
