Homecoming 2023 is almost here and we are happy to introduce you to the University of Kentucky 2023 Homecoming Court. 👑💙 Throughout the week you will see the candidates at many events around campus. One of your first opportunities to learn more about them will be at our Royalty Showcase on Monday, October 9, from 7-9 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center Harris Ballroom. Royalty Showcase allows the candidates to introduce themselves to the student body, show their talents, passion for University of Kentucky and explain why they are the best choice for king and queen. We look forward to you getting to learn more about the Homecoming Court throughout the week!

Join us as we celebrate the vibrant culture and contributions of our Hispanic community during #HispanicHeritageMonth with @ukyengineering professor Dr. Isabel Escobar as she shares how she celebrates Latinx/Hispanic culture: "Aside from music and some Turma da Mônica, I celebrate as much as I can with food. I love Brazilian food and try to eat my favorites all the time. I have my daughter hooked on biscoito de polvilho, which is a staple snack in Brazil. On top of all of these, my family connection stays the strongest form of celebration – we communicate every day in Portuguese, so I feel I live my culture daily. On a slightly different note, I am the advisor of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) @uk_shpe, and we celebrate Hispanic students, how different our collective cultures are, and how to help each other succeed. We have, for example, the Noche de Ciencias, which engages and inspires Hispanic youth (and their parents) to pursue STEM degrees."

Celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth in Lexington with Nicolas Vargas, an accomplished @ukyengineering alum. "I celebrate Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month by attending the Latin Festival in Lexington, KY. This festival is held next to the courthouse from September 22nd-23th. They have food, music, and performances from different Latin countries. One of the performances they do is the March of the Flags. Someone from the representing country carries the flag across the stage while traditional music and facts from that country are being played, and I have represented Bolivia for the past few years."
