Sunsets of Kauai: Hanalei and Poipu - Mahalo nui loa, Kauai. #kauai #kauailife #kauailove #sunsets
The Na Pali Coast of Kauai - Alika told us the story of these towering structures through the eyes of a parent. The deities of the island had children who would play and play when the sun was down. One time the children were out and were not going to make it home in time before the sun came up. The parental deities knew this and ran to the edge of the island to gather the children. Once they saw that the saw was rising, they then covered the children as much as they could and when the sun hit them, they all turned to rock. - The story was of parental love and sacrifice. The coast is beautiful and hearing these stories with my children gave purpose to the experiences we have of the island. #kauai #kauaihawaii #napalicoast
I run with the red hand print over my mouth to represent the indigenous women whom have been silenced through violence and I use the #MMIW to signify the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in crisis. So what I like to do is run for those who’ve had that opportunity from them and I also like to run for the voices who have been silenced. Running for me is healing. - @rosaliefishx at @wscadv’s 10th Refuse to Abuse 5k
The meaning of the Raven symbol signifies that danger has passed and that good luck would follow. According to Native American legends and myths of some tribes the Raven played a part in their Creation myth. The raven escaped from the darkness of the cosmos and became the bringer of light to the world. The raven is associated with the creation myth because it brought light where there was only darkness. The raven is also believed to be a messenger of the spirit world. It is believed that ravens who fly high toward the heavens take prayers from the people to the spirit world and, in turn, bring back messages from the spiritual realm. Other tribes looked upon the raven as a trickster, or shape-shifter, because of its ability to adapt to different situations. #bp_sw_trip_2021 #grandcanyon #navajonation #raven #mythology #landacknowledgement
Sedona is a place of infinite creation in your heart, your greatest dream, and the most sacred moments of your life. And it is the power of your choice to choose hope even in the most difficult moments. — Ilchi Lee #sedona #arizona #landacknowledgement #thankyoufirstnations #bp_sw_trip_2021
Good morning from Sedona, Arizona. Unfortunately due to the wildfires, the whole National Park was closed. It still is a beautiful place. Full of red rock beauty, we were able to pay our respects to a loved one who is resting on this beautiful land. She was with us. We miss you, May. #sedona #arizona #bellrock #bellrockvortex #redrockcountry #hopination #apachenation #navajonatjon #landacknowledgement #thankyoufirstnations #bp_sw_trip_2021
On the way to Sedona, we stopped by a theme park based on the animated series: The Flintstones. It’s being rebranded into a Birds of Prey park but luckily before they rid of all things Stone Age, we got to see some of it. I was excited since it was a cartoon I’d watch when I was a kid. My kids seen some of the cartoons and my eldest has seen the live action film but their attachment to the series isn’t even close. Did y’all know that The Flintstones is second only to the Simpsons as the longest syndicated cartoon as well as the most popular? #bp_sw_trip_2021 #flintstones #arizona #navajonation #landacknowledgement #thankyoufirstnations
No inspirational caption. Just my daughter and I (and our fam) kayaking through the lower antelope canyon before anyone else at 6 am. #lowerantelopecanyon #antelopecanyon #navajonation #landacknowledgement #thankyoufirstnations #bp_sw_trip_2021
