Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Maxwell Mayes @MaxwellMayes

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m from Jacksonville Beach, FL. I have 2 half sisters and a half brother, they’re 12, 15, and 18 years older than me, respectively. I went to FSU for 2 years and then Auburn University for 2 years. After that I got a scholarship to Florida Coastal School of Law. I spent a year there and then left and bought a gym (4 months ago) because it was more aligned with what I wanted to do in the long run. Currently, I own a successful functional fitness gym, am a model at Ford Models in Miami, and am working on becoming an influencer.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Fitness, travel, adventure, life, outdoors, hunting, etc.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It’s just my name

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use Lightroom to get my basics down and generally just straight to Instagram. Sometimes I’ll take a picture through VSCO too.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m a big fan of Logan Paul, Steve Cook, and a lot of CrossFitters.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Expanding their lives. I found it was so easy just to get caught up focusing on fitness because my followers loved it that I wasn’t doing what I truly wanted to do.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The ability to inspire people to reach their full potential.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

To find influencers with smaller, but very loyal followers. I maintain authenticity by posting things I know might turn some people off. You can’t be liked by everyone, no one is liked by everyone. But that is fine, that’s real.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

If it’s not original or good quality, don’t bother. Millennials are to averse to poor quality and non-original content to even try it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Seeing what companies think their potential clients want. There is a lag time in a feedback loop between the customer and the company. There isn’t with the influencer and their followers. It’s cool to see how agile we can be.
