Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Angelica @theinspiredvegan

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Born in Mexico, but long time Los Angeles city girl, I have moved back and forth between LA and Bakersfield, California. I call myself a fashion and compassion bossbabe, because my mission in life is to use my talents in the fashion industry to one day build an animal rescue of my own. Currently, I am working on a set of horoscope paintings that I will exhibit in Los Angeles to fund a collection for my ecofashionable nonprofit, Veltimera. I am also putting together an online fashion school (fashionacademynet.com) with a group of my colleagues, to give fashionistas of all ages the opportunity of realizing their dreams in fashion and business, without going into college debt. My mind has big ideas that wake me up every day feeling alive!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My Style, Business and life inspirational quotes, Vegan food, and little snippets of my life.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Everywhere I look, I see beauty and inspiration, so I am The Inspired. I am also vegan with a mission to spread awareness through my posts and projects, and connect with such a heartwarming community. Therefore, theinspiredvegan.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I can’t get myself to edit using a tiny screen, so I actually use Photoshop if I want to do cool effects or emphasize certain aspects of a shot. Mostly, though, Instagram tools work for me. I choose a photo, add a purple filter, and then adjust brightness, contrast, and shadows accordingly. Maybe I can use one of the Instagram filters and reduce its effect, but I just got used to my style version.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

So many!! Kokabuta (style on point), hilaryrushford (business woman with gorgeous images), graphicartery (gorgeous art), lunalovebad (fierce and stylish), alexandrametalclown (beyond creative), ophelia_overdose (multi-talented), themyjelly (does what she loves), liobabrueckner (beautiful artwork), muttxjustice (never stops vegan activism), _fairytas (craft is out of this world), badbams (confidence), akitching (transcendent), before5am and elevateyourmindset (perfect inspirational quotes), vegetariandude and minimalistbaker (delicious recipes). The one that inspires me the most, though, is Kokabuta. She is absolutely kind and her style drives me insane, I love her!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Let go of insecurities and open their minds to a world of possibilities! The world is no longer just to survive by going to school, getting a job, having a family and retiring. There is so much more that is out there, especially now with over-abundance of everything and knowledge at your fingertips.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Connecting with others that share common interests. I love finding and being found with others that are also vegan and/or love fashion, because when I start traveling, I want to go visit them in person.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Having contest entrants repost a photo isn’t the best technique, especially when the photo isn’t very appealing. The best techniques are asking entrants to tag friends, and also hosting creative contests that have entrants interacting with the brand. As an influencer, when I mention a brand, I don’t attempt to sell it to my followers. I maintain authenticity by only working with brands I love, they represent my values, and I would wear/eat the product naturally.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Learn about photography rules to take visually pleasing photos. Nowadays, perfection or close to it is important in attracting audiences and inspiring them. Original posts are always intriguing to fans, especially if it’s something they would love to repost. It’s not always necessary, though, because people love when you share THEIR content and tag them.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The mutual benefit. I get free or discounted products that I would LOVE to share with my fans, and they grow their brand awareness, another person as proof of their product being loved, and possible content to post if they love my photos. I always try to get an understanding of their content style so that I can provide beautiful photos, and I pay attention to every detail in my posts, from colors and angles to caption and hashtags.
