Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Fannie Lou Hamer, today and throughout this weekend, we recognize our "Freedom Day” known as Juneteenth! In celebration of this significant day in Black and American history, we celebrate the liberation of our people through our continued commitment toward creating a future where Black people are self-sustaining in all aspects — mind, body, and soul. Also, we honor our ancestors who fought for freedom by investing in the youth we serve and empowering the City of Atlanta’s underrepresented population through civic engagement and community building initiatives. ⠀ ⠀ We know that this year’s observance of Juneteenth is special as this day is officially a federal holiday now. RAINY DAY! 💰📚 This past Tuesday, the @Emerging100ATL — in partnership with @QualityControlMusic, @MetroMarrs, @PlaybookLLC, @SinceThe80s, and @TheeLoners — were proud to present the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Langston Hughes High School with The Loners Rainy Day Scholarship!⁣ ⁣ In an effort to turn his celebration at his graduation ceremony into a positive effort of giving back, rising local artist and Langston Hughes High School Class of 2021 graduate @MetroMarrs collaborated with the Emerging and his management team on this new scholarship initiative.⁣ ⁣ At the official listening party for his project ‘Popular Loner’ that drops this Friday, two of Metro Marrs’ classmates — Valedictorian Victor Carrasco Pedroza and Salutatorian Samantha Hopkins — were each awarded with a $5,000 scholarship to support their collegiate and professional endeavors.
