🍒 "We travelled to Zimbabwe as a family of six adults and had booked in at Matobo Hills Lodge..." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "We contacted the lodge shortly before we left from NZ and were given the assurance that we would be safe and we would still have a great time.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At no time during our travels and stay at the lodge did we feel unsafe or worried about our safety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From the time we were collected from the Bulawayo airport to the time we left for Vic Falls after three nights, we were treated by all staff as VIP’s and they even took time to get to know us by name. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  Matobo Hills management and staff did their best to cater to our specific needs such as arranging transport around Bulawayo for a morning for a nostalgic visit and transport to Vic Falls on the day we left.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable in a beautiful tranquil setting. All staff were passionate about their work and the chef was fantastic.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was shown in the quality and the tastiness of the food prepared over an open fire. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The game drives organised were fun, informative and very well run. We did both a morning and afternoon drive. We were fortunate enough to follow a herd of rhino on foot.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To be so close to such large animals in their environment was very exciting and mind blowing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are looking for a stereotypical day spa type resort you are looking for the wrong thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead go there and experience genuine hospitality that money cannot buy because it is exactly that - not made up because the workers have been told to do so but is part of who the people are and it is something incredible to experience.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also go respectfully recognising what an outstanding job they do even facing economic problems that make their job so much more difficult .
