L’aquaculture a donc été introduite auprès des communautés locales dans le cadre de ce projet porté par l’ @edinburghuniversity et @beyondconservation Blue Ventures, soutenu par la @fondationprincealbert2, pour préserver les récifs et la biodiversité malgache, débloquant ainsi de nouveaux emplois et de nouvelles sources de revenus. Les algues et les concombres de mer sont cultivés, offrant une économie locale fructueuse pour la population, avec des effets positifs pour les aires marines. 🇬🇧 #OurAction 🐠 In Madagascar, coastal ecosystems are threatened by overfishing, so it is necessary to adapt the management of fish stocks to ensure food security and healthy marine life. 🇫🇷 #OurActions 🌿 La @fondationprincealbert2 s’est mobilisée aux côtés de @size_of_wales pour ce projet visant à soutenir la nation indigène Wampis du nord-ouest du Pérou, dans sa lutte contre la déforestion. Les Wampis sont confrontés à l’exploitation forestière et minière illégale, l'agriculture industrielle, ou encore la construction de routes. Ce projet a fourni un soutien crucial à cette communauté afin de renforcer ses actions de gouvernance, de surveillance et son autonomie. 23 leaders autochtones ont été formés aux outils de cartographie et de suivi des forêts, 2 bateaux ont été fournis et 3 actions juridiques ont été menées avec succès. 🇬🇧 #OurActions 🌿 The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has joined forces with @size_of_wales for this project to support the indigenous Wampis nation in north-western Peru in its fight against deforestation. The Wampis are facing challenges such as illegal logging, mining, industrial agriculture and road building. 🇫🇷 #OurActions - L’Aire Marine Protégée (AMP) de Gyaros abrite environ 70 phoques moines, l’un des mammifères les plus menacés au monde. Un système de surveillance accru était donc nécessaire pour garantir la sécurité et la prospérité de cette zone, foyer d’une vie marine exceptionnelle. C’est pourquoi la @fondationprincealbert2 a soutenu ce projet porté par @wwfgreece . Grâce à des patrouilles renforcées, la pêche illégale a considérablement diminué, de 51% pour la pêche récréative et de 87% pour la pêche professionnelle. En plus de ce travail de surveillance, des missions de sensibilisations ont également été menées pour informer autour de l’importance écologique de l’île de Gyaros et de l’AMP. 🇬🇧 #OurActions - The Gyaros Marine Protected Area (MPA) is home to approximately 70 monk seals, one of the most endangered mammals in the world. An increased monitoring system was therefore necessary to ensure the safety and prosperity of this area, home to exceptional marine life, which is why the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation supported this project led by @wwfgreece . Thanks to reinforced patrols, illegal fishing has considerably decreased, by 51% for recreational fishing and by 87% for professional fishing. #OurActions 🇫🇷 La région frontalière sino-vietnamienne est réputée pour sa biodiversité unique et riche, elle se trouve à la croisée de grands enjeux internationaux de préservation. Cette région déjà fragilisée par des précédents conflits doit faire face aux conséquences du changement climatique, pouvant entraîner la migration voire la disparition d’espèce endémiques. Des mesures innovantes et inédites doivent alors être prises pour préserver ces écosystèmes. Ce sont 9 espèces et leurs habitats qui ont été identifiés comme prioritaires, permettant de développer des moyens de protection. Dans le cadre de ce projet porté par l’ @amnh et soutenu par la @fondationprincealbert2, 14 pays d’Asie se sont engagés dans une coopération transfrontalière pour protéger la biodiversité à travers la mise en place de mesures de conservation. #OurActions 🇬🇧 The Sino-Vietnamese border region is known for its unique and rich biodiversity and is at the crossroads of major international preservation issues. This region, already weakened by previous conflicts, must face the consequences of climate change, which may lead to the migration or even the extinction of endemic species. Cet effort a abouti à la création d'un document intitulé "Rebuilding Coral Reefs : A Decadal Grand Challenge" qui fournit un résumé des résultats les plus pertinents et les plus récents des sciences naturelles et sociales et de leurs implications pour les nombreuses discussions et négociations qui ont lieu au niveau mondial.
