Phone Home When you need a phone booth in the middle of nowhere @telstra has you covered! 😁 While camping near Mount Arapiles a few months ago, I saw this phone booth sitting near the entrance to the campsite and wondered if it would be possible to capture the Milky Way with it. Telstra has been fined half a million dollars by the telecommunications watchdog and forced to pay back nearly $2 million after overcharging thousands of customers. The Australian Communications and Media Authority says a recent investigation had found that more than 11,000 Telstra customers were wrongly billed for services. That's on top of a similar investigation in 2020 that found it had overcharged more than 10,000 customers over a 12-year period. ACMA Chair Nerida O'Loughlin said there was no excuse for overcharging customers and Telstra had been slapped with a fine over its actions. "So it's pretty disappointing that we're seeing continuing overcharging by Telstra of its customers," she said. #ABCNews #Telstra #ACMA

@telstra is forking out more than $2 million, after overcharging customers. The Telco giant has been forced to repay customers $1.73 million and pay a $500,000 fine after an investigation from the regulator. First of three window displays from my current show, Broken surface/ Mosaic composition/ Rubble   This window features hand-made ceramic tile mosaics and photographic prints. Was really hoping to avoid doing this. I also apologise in advance for any person who doesnt get any access to mobile coverage. Im currently posting this using our #halfbaked #satellitebroadband because again our mobile coverage has dropped out. (Oh it just kicked back in with 3g which apparently the last genius on the online #telstra support stated "thats not possible") this is becoming a weekly occurrence. But just down there in the gully about 3km in a straight line and in full view of our property is a @telstra mobile tower which has become a #trucking #lemon over the last 12months or so along with other towers in our district that we cross over to. The only reliable communication for #emergencies we have left is our #landline which is currently above the ground for the first 200mtrs along our boundary fence. Only to be told the last time it was repaired that if it played up again it would be disconnected. Also yes i have tried multiple times to notify online through the #mytelstra app. How are we supposed to operate in this supposed online world if we cant access it. Can everyone tag @telstra in their comments. To show we dont have problems with our phones. My 90 year old mother nearly got conned last week. She got a phone call from a well spoken migrant who made out he was from Telstra broadband. He told my mum that they’d noticed a red light showing on her landline phone, and he was sending a serviceman out to fix it. He gave her the man’s name Mark Williams with his security number, and could she write it down please. Which she did of course. He got her to write a lot of things down. He wanted her to be comfortable with numbers. He said that the part they needed would be delivered by Australia Post on the 18th of August. Write this serial number down. Then he told her she’d have to pay the $4.50 postage fee. Could he have her credit card details? Which she gave him including the security numbers, then he told her that card didn’t work, could he have her other credit card details? This made her a bit suspicious because she’d used her card the day before. Then he asked her when she was born and could he have her bank account number???? She hang up on him. Then she got a phone call from a lady at Telstra saying the call had been cut off and she would proceed with the booking. My mum hung up again and then rang her bank and cancelled both bank accounts. I’m telling you this story to help stop you getting ripped off. If someone rings you, never give them your credit card details. Three types of phones seen were the 'Green Phone' or CT3 (coin telephone number three, Introduced in the early 1970s. These phones were manufactured by Anritsu of Japan. Another was the 'Gold Phone' coin-operated public telephone. Designed by a prominent Australian industrial designer, this was probably one of Paul Schremmer's most well-known designs. The Gold Phone was widely used in Australia in the 1980s and 1990s and phased out in 2006. This represents a unique time in the development of telecommunications technology in Australia. Since the Gold Phone was in use, the number of payphones has declined, having been replaced by personal mobile phones. But public telephones or payphones are still critical for people on low incomes - and in emergency situations when mobile phone services are disrupted. Telstra has switched on a brand-new SMS scam filter feature to better protect customers from scam text messages, by blocking them at a network level before they reach customers’ devices. The company reported that in 2021 more than 11,000 users received malicious texts to Android devices compared to only 50 reports in 2020. Long post /rant alert .. This road is closed again . The video is from the time it was open . Council & contractors working hard on it .. but , The landslide is moving / unstable ..we are stuck on the Huonbrook side ... I’m in a friends little farm house . And feeling very blessed to have a roof in the current crisis . It feels safe .. Djali and I were trapped further up at our end of The Valley for six days . No power , communications .. just 7 of us helping each other best we could. . No sign of any emergency services except on day 4 when we finally got a chopper in for a sick baby . Eventually Djali and I were pulled out down the creek by ropes and an amazing local team of climbers and arborists.. So yep. , it’s been big and it still is . Daily new landslides , rockfalls , sink holes .. but the whole shire is in crisis so we are staying here . Growing our food and helping carry herbs and tools deeper into The Valley .. my issue is with #telstra .. WTF !! It’s over 3 weeks and still nothing . The lines are here ready to be connected but no help ..We have 5 kids on this property , many more throughout The Valley and no way to call 000 , our closest reception is a 20 min hike up a goat track .. we are resourceful and resilient but accidents happen.. apart from the obvious dangers there’s also snake bites , falls and countless other possibilities.. we have a helicopter pad but no way to call it .. so if anyone knows anyone at Telstra please have a word .. the electric company ? Country energy ..has been amazing . They’ve choppered in 3 times and got electricity all the way nearly to my place at the very end of Huonbrook. Sometimes you get those real special days at work and this time was one of them. Telstra sponsor an arts Competition, the NATSIAAs, and they asked me to fly to an island and shoot some portraits of the Winner, the lovely Margaret Rarru Garrawurra, 'Rarru' to her friends. She is in her 80s, but showed true grit and warmth when I suggested we get up at sunrise and explore the island searching for magic locations for the shots. She doesn't speak English, so her gorgeous sister Ruth translated for us. She is the other lady in some of these pics also So many lovely warm moments that no photos can capture. Just me and these beautiful old ladies driving round in an old ute with the lovely art centre manager and her dog Whipamoodo. This dog insisted on jumping out of the moving car and disappearing for hours at a time, chasing other dogs and generally having the time of her life. No tourists are allowed on the island, so felt a wee bit lucky to see this slice of island paradise. Big thanks to Bec at MAGNT, Gabby at the press society and Telstra for making this happen

She lodged and then later withdrew a workers’ compensation claim for a psychological injury she believes she sustained as the result of a traumatic delayed call involving a child.
