These are hands down THE best student whiteboard erasers! ✨ These felt squares come in a pack of 44 and they are all different colors so it’s easy for students to know which one is theirs! I’ve been using these for the past few years and love them! Do you use student whiteboards? (Ours are nothing fancy! They are a thin placemat whiteboard material and come with our math program, but we use them all the time!) Affiliate link to the felt squares I use: amzn.to/3br2iHq or you can find it in my “links” story highlight! 💕

Creating a classroom community where students feel loved and safe is crucial for student success in any learning environment. For many students, your classroom is their first time in school, away from their families. It can be a hard transition filled with many big emotions for both the child and family. Family necklaces are a way for students to have their families close to their hearts all day long while they are at school! Students can wear them anytime they miss their family, feel sad or lonely, or have anxiety. I take photos at open house or have families email a family selfie to me to use. You can also place an additional photo on the back. I have made family necklaces for every class I have ever had! I started making family necklaces during the first year that I was teaching, and I have made them every year after. Pick a wall or bulletin board at the student level because they will be the ones getting them and putting them away when they need them. Students decide when they want them and when they want to put them away. Some students use them all the time, all year long and other students barely use them at all. But there are there if, or when, they choose to use them. Now I know you are thinking, it looks like I have a small class and when I taught a half-day session, I did. When I taught full day I could have up to 25 kids on my roster. They get tangled sometimes but not very much if you use plastic lacing string. They are ready for students on the first day of school, and they always stay at school. I laminate library pockets and cut the top open. I cut cardstock to fit inside and match the pocket. Their name tag is color coded, just like all of the other things in my classroom to help students who are not able to recognize their name yet. . #Teachersofinstagram #teacherspayteachers #iteachprek #iteachpreschool #learningthroughplay #playmatters #iteachtoo #pocketofpreschool #preschoolteacher #preschoollife #prekteacher #prekinder #lifeofateacher #familynametag #backtoschool #preschoolopenhouse #settinguptheclassroom #socialemotionallearning #goingtopreschool #classroomcommunity #classroomfamily #bulletinboard #familybulletinboard

📣Teacher Hack!!! 📣 If you have broken or old crayons from last year, REUSE them for this heating activity!!! 🖍 🔥 As a way for my first graders to predict and observe what happens to solids when heat is added with a mix of art, I helped my students melt crayons on mini canvases! I used crayons that I saved then hot-glued them on the mini canvases that I got 3 for $1 from @dollartree! The kids then predicted what would happen, recorded it in their Science journal, then we added heat to the crayons with a hairdryer! In the past I made one BiG one as a class, but this way, all the kids got to take their own home! 🌈🖍 Swipe and SAVE this post for LIGHT, HEAT, and SOUND anchor chart ideas as well! Link in bio to grab my PRINT and GO Forms of Energy Set! 💡🔥📣 https://bit.ly/3ueQA7o

In 2019, first year of teachers college, I fell really I’ll during the beginning of my second semester. Who knew this would be a two and half year journey of battling one of the toughest times of my life. I was living with debilitating pain, countless times in and out the emergency rooms, doctors not taking me seriously, I was BROKEN. I couldn’t see a life without living 24/7 with widespread pain. I found myself escaping into tv series and movies. Friends was one of the series that brought me joy. It made me escape my body and just dive into the world of the characters. I binged the season for months during the darkest times in my life. It brought me joy. 2 years ago version of me couldn’t see a future of me living life again. 90% pain free. Working. Spending time with friends. I could not see that. Allhamdulilah I’m so thankful for those years because now I lead a life with gratitude. I am forever grateful for everything and I pray that Allah SWT heals all who are going through chronic illness journeys with no diagnosis. May Allah SWT protect them from gaslighting doctors and acknowledge that their pain and suffering is REAL. I am thankful for all I have met throughout my fibromyalgia journey and I just want to know you got this 🤗 I believe and acknowledge your pain, experiences and flare ups and I hope you find a bit of joy throughout your journeys 💜 - - - - - - - #teachertips #teachersofinstagram #teach #happyteacher #teachergram #teachersofig #teachers #teacherproblems #teacherstyleinspo #teacherideas #iteach #firstyearteacher #teacherootd #teacherstyle #youngteacher #iteach #teacherspayteachers #tpt #iteachtoo #teachersofig #iteachscience #iteachdance #middleschoolteacher #science #iteachmiddleschool #teacherofinsta #iteach #wearteachers #blackteacher

Review is essential at the start of a new school year! I'll be using this five-week Essential ELA Review Unit with my seniors to help them get back into an academic routine. With this unit, I will share the mini-lesson and presentation each day, and then students will have a quick review task to complete. Once students have had a few minutes to answer, I'll then share the answer slide with the class for a brief whole-class review. I use this as a daily bell ringer for the first five weeks of school, and it works. Using this review unit really helps me see what my students know and what they don't know. This review unit is for grades 11-12, and it reviews the most essential 9-10 standards. I have ELA review units for the following grade levels: ⭐️ Grade 7 (reviews grade 6 standards) ⭐️ Grade 8 (reviews grade 7 standards) ⭐️ Grades 9-10 (reviews grade 8 standards) ⭐️ Grades 711-12 (reviews grades 9-10 standards) You can check out all of my ELA review units by tapping on the link in my profile! https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/The-Daring-English-Teacher/Category/ELA-Review-545354 #teacherspayteachers #secondaryELA #iteachELA #ELAteacher #backtoschool #iteachhighschoolEnglish #highschoolEnglishteacher #teachergram #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #middleschoolELA #middleschoolELAteacher

What’s your favorite subject to teach? Hands down, mine is writing. ✏️I absolutely LOVE breaking down the writing steps to bring the students along the journey of letters, sounds, labeling, list making, all the way to sentence writing! I have a monthly writing center resource that can walk your students through the different stages and steps of writing! Here is a sample of September Kindergarten Writing Center. Each month comes with 5 themes, for September the themes are: 1. pets 2. sports 3. recess 4. school supplies 5. colors There are 5 themes each month, you can use one a week, if you want! Within each theme there are over 35 worksheets for you to use to meet your students' needs. This resource is designed so no matter where your students are on their journey to becoming independent writers there are multiple skills they can practice at their level. Here are the skills/resources included for every theme: 1. vocabulary cards 2. vocabulary lists 3. vocabulary sheets 4. folder cover (editable version included) 5. checklists for you to assign weekly work (editable version included) 6. vocabulary sheets (3 versions) 7. labeling sheets (two versions) 8. make a list (3 versions) 9. sentence writing sheets (10 versions) 10. story sequencing (2 versions) 11. story elements (2 versions) . You can either design this as a writing center in your classroom or prepare a folder for the students to take home. I have included posters that are full sheets of paper or mini versions to glue and laminate into the writing folders. These posters include: -color words -number words -alphabet -sight words (editable version included) -sentence stems (editable version included) -sentence best practices -folder covers (editable version included) . I’m linking to the year long bundle in my profile. If you want the monthly version, you can grab it from there! https://bit.ly/30ZlmEy

Fluency isn't reserved for sentence and passage level reading! Letter fluency is a critical skill for our students so that they can begin to build their orthographic (visual skills) as well. In fact, many studies have been done to show the predictive nature of reading performance by looking at Kindergartners' ability to name letters rapidly. Furthermore rapid naming (letter naming ability) is highly predictive of reading difficulties at later ages too. Practice with these skills helps to create the connection between orthography, phonology, and semantics and needs to be focused on from the foundations all the way up. Guiney, K.M. (2002), The relative effects of phonological awareness, letter-naming fluency, and vocabulary development on early reading skills. Intervention tip: See how many letters they can accurately name in 60 seconds. Repeat this week each to see their growth! We love framing this as a game with our students! #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #teachersofig #tpt #education #teachers #teacherspayteachers #learning #teaching #teach #teacherfriends #igteachers #teachergram #teacherproblems #iteach #teacherlife #teacherideas #teachersoftpt #teachercreated #teacherbloggers #teachersoninstagram #alwaysateacher #readingspecialist #iteachtoo #weareteachers #iteachreading #readingteacher #SOR #scienceofreading
