After last night’s rain, I was checking the garden and decided to snap some pics with my ‘real camera’😉 I use my phone for 99% of my pictures, and every time I take some pictures with my camera, I wonder why I don’t do it more often. I guess because it is a bit more work to download and transfer, and to remember to have my camera with me☺️ But goodness, it sure captures details like my phone cannot. And I wanted some details of the garden while it is in it’s late Summer glory. Every late July/early August, she really shows off🥰 The zinnias are going crazy, and the watermelon, tomatoes and spaghetti squash are just growing away, each days I ask them how are my babies doing?😉I told Emme I’m trying not to become emotionally attached to my fruit, but I can’t help it, I’m so emotionally attached! Friends I have become the crazy garden lady!🙈👩🏼‍🌾 I just pray each day that they stay safe from bugs and bunnies, and if love and excitement keep them thriving, then they should be perfect😉 And if you swipe you’ll also see that I can’t believe I captured a hummingbird bee in a photo! I’ve gotten video on my phone, but never been able to get a photo! I hope you sweet friends enjoy the garden as much as I do, just a few more weeks to soak up all of this beauty❤️❤️❤️

Stripping and sanding our front porch deck is by far the most tedious, dusty and all around unpleasant DIY project I’ve tackled, but every time I step outside I still think about how it was all worth it. Swipe to see dark the stain was before our remodel. We painted the exterior white but left some of the original wood details such as the front porch posts as you see here. Our painters sanded all these details to reveal the lighter original wood tone but left the porch deck for me to complete. Right alongside my love of quilting is my love of gardening. I learned to quilt from @missouriquiltco by watching Jenny’s tutorials. I learned to garden by watching @gardenanswer by watching Laura. I have read countless books and have made countless mistakes! It’s funny that both quilting and gardening I had thought weren’t for me! I couldn’t “do” them. It is also because of my kids that I even learned to quilt and garden!❤️❤️ I wanted them to have something handmade from me once they’d outgrown the bibs and receiving blankets I made. Then years later it was my children who begged to start a garden so they could learn how things grow. I don’t do things halfway 😂, it’s all or nothing with me! Here I am 10 years later quilting, writing patterns, running a #pleasingplaidqal and on my fourth year of gardening. I love that my children have always inspired me to do more and stretch my creativity and that then I get to teach them these skills. I love that they get to see me grow, learn and make mistakes. They check in on my latest patterns, ask about my Quilt alongs and give feedback on colors. My oldest is now officially tall enough so he has become quite the quilt photo holder❤️🙌🏼❤️. First time canning was successful! Now we have peach jam. 🍑 I had some “fruit float” happen in one jar. My mom told me it’s because my peaches were overripe so more juice came out resulting in more liquid and lighter fruit…which makes them float! It didn’t hurt anything though - they still sealed fine. 🙂 I’ve watched my mom can things for years, but this was my first time doing it myself! I got started at 9:30pm the other night after the kids were in bed & the dishes were done. I had been meaning to make jam for several days but other things kept coming up. So it became “now or never” on the peaches! 🍑 I used the “Homemade Peach Jam” recipe by @barefeetkitchen . It has cinnamon and it’s delightful! I diced my peaches rather than mashed them, but it worked fine. I had also made some brioche buns that day so the kids got a special breakfast the next morning: toasted brioche buns and homemade peach jam. 🧡 Have you tried canning?
