Here's how you can help your little one during teething: Before Nursing: Offer teething toys to massage their gums. Create a soothing frozen washcloth by dampening it, rolling it up, and freezing it. Before nursing, let your baby chew on the frozen washcloth to numb their gums. During Nursing: Pay close attention to your baby's cues to know when they're finished nursing. This is when they might unintentionally chomp down, potentially causing nipple discomfort. Once you sense they're done, offer a teething toy or a frozen breastmilk pop to soothe their gums. For Nipple/Areolar Wounds: To heal these wounds effectively, opt for moist wound healing methods. This approach maintains the nipple and surrounding tissue's softness, preventing scab formation that could hinder healing.
