Air New Zealand is introducing a “no jab, not fly” policy for international travellers. “Being vaccinated against Covid-19 is the new reality of international travel – many of the destinations Kiwis want to visit are already closed to unvaccinated visitors,” Air NZ chief executive Greg Foran said. ”The quicker we get vaccinated, the sooner we can fly Kiwis to places like New York, Vancouver and Narita.” The policy change will come into effect on February 1, from when any traveller aged 18 or over on the international network would have to be fully-vaccinated. Lord Ve’ehala delivered His Majesty King Tupou VI speech at the Soft Closing of Parliament, Thursday 16th of September 2021. Our translation of the King’s speech. I thank God Almighty for His guidance that brought us to this day. The Speaker of the House, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Nobles Representatives and People’s Representatives are in good health. We are journeying at a time where we face great challenges to the country. People’s safety from the increasing devastation of illicit drugs which affects the country’s rising generation, whom we hope would work for our country today and tomorrow. It is important that we are prepared for the safety of the lives of Tonga’s people from COVID-19 and its aftermath. We have done the vaccinations and we accept the advice from the Ministry of Health and food security due to climate change and the borders’ closure. We do not rely on overseas imported food, but we each prepare our own plantation for the family’s provision should these challenges become long-term. The House has passed Bills over the course of this Parliamentary term which will help build the country in various aspects of the society. But there are some Bills with shortfalls in purposes as if it will not allow Court to fulfill its role to the best, for the society. Parliament should be attentive to ensure the Government of the day uses taxes wisely. Some of the ministries, like the Government’s Public Enterprises, show that the statements of expenses are incomplete. The House has an obligation to the people and the Rule of Law and Constitution of Tonga. Although Bills were passed during this Parliamentary term, but amendments still need to be made. The People’s Representatives and Nobles Representatives, who have voted yourselves into the House, have a responsibility to the people, and also to the Law and Constitution of Tonga, which you have covenanted to abide by and work accordingly. We received a message from one of our followers to check out a post from a mother saying that her son witness a student been physically beaten by a teacher. We spoke on it on radio & our story. This message says it all. Teachers thank you for the important work you all do for our kids. Only a few of you do this & to those few please please please stop. Your there to educate not beat on our kids. I bet a few comments will say but did you guys look at it from where the teacher is coming from, the kids must of been naughty. Your train to educate & inspire them without violence. Surely they is other punishment out there more suitable of our kids then hitting them. Worst come worst with your students…Talk to the parents. Hitting should never never be the answer please. Again your job is educate, please remember that to the few teachers out there that using this form of punishment. Ofa atu ❤️🙏🏽🇹🇴
