Dia Al-Azzawi is an Iraqi painter and sculptor, born in Baghdad in 1939. He is regarded as one of Iraq's greatest painters and is noted for incorporating Arabic script into his paintings. He started his artistic career in 1964, after graduating from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and completing a degree in archaeology at the College of Arts in Baghdad. He has been an inspiration to a generation of young, calligraffiti artists and founded the Iraqi art group known as New Vision. He currently lives and works in London. Artworks details: 1.
