A Tribute to Pat Nebo. With a heavy heart, I write this tribute to honor the memory of an extraordinary individual whose talent, dedication, and passion have left an indelible mark on the Nigerian film and entertainment industries. My journey with Pat Nebo began at N.T.A in the 1980s, where he worked alongside esteemed professionals such as Inyang Emma, Steve Obigbesan, and John Johnson in set and scenic design. Pat, a brother, a friend, and a professional colleague, has departed from us, but his legacy will continue to resonate through the countless films, TV programs, commercials, and musical videos he brought to life. Throughout his illustrious career spanning several decades, I had the privilege of collaborating with Pat on numerous occasions, and each experience was nothing short of extraordinary. His artistic flair, coupled with his technical expertise, elevated every production to new heights. Jagunjagun by Femi Adebayo and Anikulapo The Series, by Kunle Afolayan , on Netflix, have emerged as trailblazers in African Indigenous films. During my visit to their production locations, I was impressed by the crew's mastery of modern digital hybrid film production equipment. These technological advancements have equipped the next generation of African filmmakers with the tools to beautifully showcase our continent's cultural diversity to global audiences. Congratulations to the talented cast and crew of Anikulapo The Series and Jagunjagun for their remarkable achievements. It's now Africa's turn to shine, alongside the likes of American, European, Japanese, South Korean, and Indian cinema. Àwa ló kàn!

Still on the trail of the remaining pioneers and the greatest dramatists who are now Heroes of the Yoruba Traditional Traveling Theatre, I spent yesterday morning with Ọ̀gá Charles (Olúmọ) Sanyaolu, who turned 100 recently - the oldest living actor in Nigeria today. Widely known by his popular stage name ÀGBÁKÒ, the terrible baddie of the Yoruba Theatre and early films, reminded me of our work together on Anikura (1982), Ireke Onibudo (1983), Lisabi and across Chief Hubert Ogundes’ films, Aiye, Jaiyesinmi, Aropin N’Tenia and Ayanmo. TAMPAN is celebrating and honouring the iconic Ọ̀gá Charles (Olúmọ) Sanyaolu today at Abeokuta. Watch out for our documentary Series on Legends of the Yoruba Traditional Travelling Theatre.

ON THE TRAIL OF HEROES OF THE YORUBA TRADITIONAL THEATRE In my quest to track and profile the remaining pioneers and the greatest dramatists who are now Heroes of the Yoruba Traditional Traveling Theatre, I finally encountered Madam Omoladun Afolayan who recently celebrated her 80th Birthday in Lagos. Omoladun Afolayan was not only spouse but was a prominent actress in the late Adeyemi Afolayan’s Ade Love Theatre. We had a revealing three hour interview at her hometown, Komu in Oyo State of Nigeria. Her account will be part of a documentary series on the hardest working and talented heroes of the golden era of the Yoruba Travelling Theatre, who travelled round Yoruba land and beyond entertaining and bringing social commentary to the communities.
