JOURNEY OF SAVING LIVES.
Today I turn exactly 2 years, one day of working in the Intermediate Hospital Katutura (IHK).
It has been such a remarkable journey that has taught me numerous lessons in the Public Sector and indeed something I can make use of for the future.
People always ask, what is a Lawyer (student🌚) is doing at the hospital, 😅 some even thought I changed courses or something but nah, I'm entirely Administrative Based and yeah, still a student.
I've experienced how critical working knowing you have people's lives depending on you. Decisions made over the years were the border between someone's survival or someone's death. This made me understand how vital it is to work on matters as they arise as we are doing it for the Namibian people.
I've been working under the Leadership of Dr. N.T Amagulu (Right), the Medical Superintendent of the Intermediate Hospital Katututa. She's hard at work and does not compromise when it's issues that involve patients under zero circumstances. If she requests a certain equipment to be procured, it must be done timeously.
Very energetic, well learned and truly grateful for all the mentoring, guidance and inspiration.
Despite the various social backlash and the political criticisms on the state of the hospital, we must give credit where it's due and commend Health workers for their tireless efforts including students and interns.
IHK is the biggest referral hospital in the country, on top of the patients in the Khomas Region, we further received 65 seater buses of patients coming from other 13 regions including those critical ones in Ambulances hence the pressure is not a joke colleagues!
All in all, I didn't think I'd actually enjoy working in the hospital, it was scary at first (COVID-19 times and I was once in the same elevator with a corpse😭) very traumatic but it's how life goes.
I've done all this while stil a student, NANSO National Leader, and other extra curricular activities, hence serious multitasking comrades.😂
From this juncture, I'm highly motivated to see what the future holds further grow professionally.
I'm still here(IHK) in case you come buy, HMU.😁
