This exhibition brings to life excerpts from The Men Who Would Be King, a collaborative book by photographer Jon Tonks and writer Christopher Lord. It chronicles a series of encounters between 2014 and 2018 with the complex firmament of mythos and oral traditions that criss-cross Vanuatu, and the myriad foreigners who get lost in them. Read more about the project and the exhibition at Pictura (on view through Nov 23) on the #CuriousPhotoBlog (link in bio) @jon_tonks @christopherl0rd

This weekend saw the opening of an exhibition of works at Pictura Gallery at the FAR Centre, here in Bloomington, Indiana. I’m really happy to be showing a selection of images from The Men Who Would Be King, the book I collaborated collaborated on with writer Christopher Lord, published by Dewi Lewis Publishing. For the layout of the show, we tried to add some of the layers from the book, to give insight to of the stories within. @picturagallery specialises in showing contemporary photography from all over the world, and the show runs until the end of November if you’re in town. . . . . . . . . @christopherl0rd @dewi_lewis_publishing @fourthandrogers @picturagallery #documentaryphotography #photobook #dewilewispublishing #johnfrum #tanna #southpacific #filmphotography #hasselblad #kodak #collaboration #photographyandwords #themenwhowouldbeking #prophecy #vanuatu #vanuatuislands #photographyandwords #documentaryphoto #filmcommunity #artclassified #jontonks #insidephotos #storytelling

The Centurion - June 2022, Twerton, Bath . . Affectionately known as Twerton Airport - answers on a postcard please… . . Thanks to Marshall at the Centurion for helping make this happen, and all who came along to be part of it and to witness me precariously stood on the cabin of a wet 60s Land Rover. Thanks to @isaac.law for assisting and making sure I didn’t fall off 👍 .
