BlackVue customer Jay sent us the footage of a rear-end accident he was inolved in, recorded on his dual channel dash cam. Jay was driving in a stop-start traffic after finishing work for the day in Melbourne, Australia. The driver behind him continued although he was already stopped and crashed into Jay's brand new Mazda 3 that he'd picked up from the dealer only 2 months earlier. The other driver claimed that there was "something in her eye". They exchanged each other's details for insurance. Our Customer (who prefers to remain anonymous) sent us this footage recorded on his older BlackVue dash cam model. All of a sudden a black pickup truck shot across our Customer's lane from the HOV lane, in the process violently clipping what he thought was the side of his Tesla Model 3. Later he found out it was the driver's side mirror, which had to be replaced. The sideswiper continued across the other three lanes of traffic and the BlackVue user followed, expecting him to pull over and exchange license and insurance information. It quickly became apparent that he was in fact running away and was not going to pull over so the BlackVue user gave chase, trying to memorize the runner's license plate's number. When the culprit realized he wasn’t going to shake the Tesla, he moved to the right shoulder and slowed. Our Customer passed him and pulled over ahead, just before the freeway exit. About the time he was ready to exit his car, the pickup truck zoomed by, running away. Our Customer told us: "I was reimbursed over $1000 from my insurance company for the damage. This dash cam footage is pretty wild, if you think about it - it includes red light runner, an intersection crash, a near miss and a... hit-and-run? And that's just in a few seconds! BlackVue dash cam user Miguel was waiting at a red light at an intersection when a white sedan, coming from the opposite direction ran a red light. It promptly crashed into a black SUV crossing the intersection from the left. Both cars spun out of control, barely missing Miguel's car. This rear-end accident footage was privided to us by a Customer using a 4K BlackVue dash cam model. In the video we see the footage from the rear camera (the dash cam was dual channel, meaning it has both front and rear cameras). A white Chevrolet is following our Customer Pender up until he reached an intersection. The front footage (not included in this video as it was unfortunately deleted) showed an SUV stopping abruptly. Pender had no choice but to stop too - and he was effectively left with no way out as another car approached from behind.. . While most of the rear-end accidents are pretty clean-cut and the insurance companies don't contest them, it's always good to have video evidence, just in case.
