Animal rescue video! 💞🐷💞 A miracle just happened for an extremely lucky adult male pig. Mr Pig (his temp name) was being used as a ‘teaser’ - where male pigs, also kept in barren cages, are brought out to walk beside the females in gestation crates. The females that appear ‘excited’ are then artificially inseminated, starting a miserable cycle of pregnancy, birthing and death. In a strange twist of fate, Mr Pig was injured early in 2023. A vet tech started treating him and became very emotionally attached. The vet tech made an online post which our amazing Abbie Orr saw. She never stopped advocating for Mr Pig 💖 This type of release is never considered by those who own and manage these operations; and who seem oblivious to the sentient beings all around them. We are grateful that the ‘owner’ agreed to let this boy go to sanctuary 🐷❤️‍🩹 Of course Mr Pig was scared and reluctant to move. I was right next to the loading chute, guarding the door to our trailer, and I could hear the massive effort right next to me as he was gradually forced out. When Mr Pig gingerly stepped into our trailer, SUCH RELIEF!!! The stress of the rescue going wrong, of the ‘farmer’ changing his mind, of Mr Pig escaping during the rescue was huge. We got him safely in his new comfy spot and went out to celebrate 🥳🎉 Pigs are extremely sociable animals, and to let Mr. Pig have a chance of forming friendships with others of his kind, or even other species, the only option we’ll consider is to have him neutered. Huge thanks to the team who made his rescue possible… Abbie, Anthea, Jessica, myself and Peter, and of course the vet tech who befriended Mr Pig and reached out for help.  We’ve only known him for a couple of days, but already we know that he’s super strong, inquisitive to explore, and full of personality 😎 Go ahead and suggest a new name if you like 🥰 🎥 @jennyveganmcqueen #greatescape #pigsarefriendsnotfood #GoVegan
