“When it comes to cooking with oils, it’s important to consider: 1️⃣ The level of processing 2️⃣ Smoke point 3️⃣ Omega 6:3 ratio In general, saturated fats are better to cook with since they are more stable and less likely to oxidise when heated. This is due to their chemical structure which is solid at room temperature. Unsaturated fats on the other hand are broken up into 2 subgroups: 1️⃣ Monounsaturated (MUFAS) 2️⃣ Polyunsaturated (PUFAS) MUFAS (avocado, olives, macadamia) are more stable than PUFAS which are more prone to oxidation. PUFAS are found in various seeds, nuts, and oily fish such as salmon. Vegetable oils are rich in PUFAs and are more prone to lipidperoxidation (ie. generation of free radicals 👉🏼 inflammation = tissue damage), especially when heated. These “oxidised oils” can also impair insulin sensitivity . The temperature an oil starts to burn and become oxidised is known as the “smoke point.” When choosing a fat to cook with, opt for a HIGHER smoke point or simply cook at LOWER TEMPERATURES. Coconut oil can be a great fat to cook with at medium heats, not high. The last thing to consider is the level of processing. Look for cold-pressed, virgin, & extra virgin. Unprocessed virgin oils are prepared by physical/mechanical processes within thermal limits & without solvents. You’ll notice that a more processed refined coconut oil has a different smoke point compared to virgin coconut. General rule of thumb: Mother nature doesn’t make bad fats. Humans do.” . Also note that some Avocado oils and olive oils may be mixed with other vegetable oils, so always check with the supplier. Personally I use walnut oil and minimal oil to cook whenever I can. 😊 . ⚡️BODY TRANSFORMATION ALERT 🚨! . Just 3 seconds apart instead of months/years apart!! While I advocate for loving your body’s... truth to be told, I would be lying if I said I didn’t have my down days.. I try to minimise my trigger points. But somehow they may come up, such as my recent wardrobe clean out. . I took out pieces of clothing that had no place in my closet and couldn’t fit me anymore. . I was grateful for having them for the phase of my life where I was much petite. . Though some part of me feels horrible for not being able to fit in them anymore, I told myself that I had to gain weight in order to be the strongest version and healthiest version of myself ❤️ . Another trigger point was not being able to work out as frequently when I was vaccinated 😅 . I felt like my progress was being hindered. . May seem superficial/absurd but this is the reality of living with body image issues ☹️ . Things are as it is and it was also a good break to reconnect with my body again and using the time to do other stuff. . While the fear of the unknown scares me right now, I’m still thankful to be able to do what I do everyday. . My worth isn’t defined by my weight, my progress, because I’m always loved by God. . Today, I was approached to consider using a plantbased cream made with vegetable oils and thought to myself if they were also doing so to many other businesses too? For sure right?! Haha. I told them I make my own cream the unconventional way using cashews and Wholefoods!! And they were like 😱... 😂 . As much as we are tempted to switch to cheaper and maybe easier-to-work-with alternatives as still be considered plantbased, we try to stick to our beliefs of making our cakes as healthy as possible without hydrogenated vegetable fats that may leading to heart disease, which my Mum has. . We believe that you matter and we try our best to serve the best to you even when we have to make our own stuff from scratch! Just like how I bake for my family ❤️ . Did you know that our sesame paste frosting is just made out of 100% pure unsweetened sesame paste? And PB date caramel has no refined sugar or dairy which normal caramel has dairy or plantbased cream! . Just PURE GOODNESS from seeds/nuts and dates only!! 🤗 . Too much vegetable oils like Omega 6s are in our food and we have to watch out as they promote inflammation in our bodies! They are in biscuits, potato chips, premade dough and many pastries like croissant 🥐 , danishes and pies too 🙏🏻 . I came across this quote again, “Wholefood means food which has had nothing added to it and nothing taken away. It is food as nature produces it. And wholefood is balanced food. When we eat it, we don't get an overload of sugar, carbohydrates, fat or any other elements." . I’m so happy whenever our customers feedback that our cakes aren’t too sweet and suits their palate. And they are satiating since they are filled with fibre from beans, oats and seeds!! 🥳 It’s such a wonderful encouragement and to know that there are amazing ppl like you guys who know better. .
