How My Garden was Built! 🌱 Beginning to end transformation in Hawai'i. Organic, sustainable, & non-GMO. 13 essential steps. 🌶🥬🥒✨ • It initially took six months to complete this garden in 13 different steps. It has grown and evolved so much since then. Much intention went into the spacing, planning, clearing, and leveling of the area, along with getting wood, making the beds, installing irrigation, placing the beds, creating a natural filtration system, sourcing compost soil, placing weed mat, installing bamboo poles with lighting, and even building a protective cedar fence. Much effort went into thoughtfully planting the seeds. I mapped out meticulously where I wanted my seeds to grow. 🥒🌱 • 👉🏽 All of the organic and heirloom seeds I use are from @trueleafmarket, and they are linked in my bio for you. 👈🏽 • It has been incredible to see this vision come to life and to witness it provide ample bounty. Just this year, I harvested more than 200 cucumbers, tons of fresh greens, peppers, herbs, and more. I’ve given the garden beds a recent glow up, refreshed the bamboo, and preserved the fence with a #plantbased, @rubiomonocoat #nontoxic stain. Fresh compost soil was mixed in and new varities of #seeds were planted. What I Ate for Dinner + Creamy Dressing Recipe! 😋🌱 This rainbow garden salad is exploding with color, and it’s so hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. Who doesn’t love a delicious salad? 🌶🥬🥕 • Nearly all of the ingredients in this salad were picked from my garden and my neighbor’s garden. There’s nothing better than a SUPA-fresh salad made with all local ingredinets. I created a bed of greens using kale, collards, Swiss chard, lettuce, and cilantro. Once I make the base of my salad is ready, I make the dressing. 🫑 • This dressing is so good, you can store it in your fridge in a sealed tight jar for up to 3-5 days to use at any time. It’s SO creamy.🌟 • For the pumpkin basil hemp dressing, simply blend: 🌱 2 TB pumpkin seeds 🌱 2 TB hemp seeds 🌱 2-4 cloves of peeled garlic 🌱 Juice of one lime or lemon 🌱 Half to one cup water (depending on how thick you want it) 🌱 3-4 tablespoons of raw tahini or pumpkin seed butter 🌱 1 teaspoon of Himalatan salt 🌱 6 sprigs fresh parsley or basil • Pour this dressing over your salad, and mix those flavors together. The most powerful lesson I’ve learned recently has been to: HONOR THY WATER. 🌊✨ • I believe that to FEEL DEEPLY is a superpower, and I believe it requires much courage to ALLOW ourselves to feel deeply. This double water and fire sign girl is an ocean of emotions. Those of you who have met me know I’m an extremely affectionate and feeling person. I can feel what others around me are feeling, and I’ve always shifted my space (and environment) to help hold space for others. Not only do I feel what others feel, but I feel my own emotions 10x. • As I’ve grown and matured, I have learned how to process all that flows through me, and my intention is always to come from a place of forgiveness, grace, and compassion. We are all human, and I definitely have my moments. • I do often feel alone at times, because we live in a world where people are constantly numbing, shutting off, blocking, drowning, smoking, stuffing away…doing ANYTHING they can to avoid FEELING. And yet, here I am trying to swim as much as I can in these waters to foster healing, to evolve, and to grow. I choose not to live in a space of avoidance, but rather, a space of constant, intentional PRESENCE. Presence is true peace. • One might say I’m a Pisces constantly swimming in her ocean of emotion. • Being an empath can be one’s greatest weakness, but it can also be one’s greatest strength. Knowing our boundaries and knowing how to create nurturing spaces to help ease these ebbs and flows is ESSENTIAL. • I used to think I was TOO much or that my waves of emotion were TOO much for those around me. I now see to the right people, vulnerability can very much become a space or source of healing. We allow others to heal simply by showing the parts of us we think need to remain unseen. • I spend a lot of time grounding myself and finding peace within myself. It’s empowering. • I hope this encourages you to see your inherent faults as your greatest strengths. • Allow yourself to feel your feels. This weather creates a sense of calm, and it forces you to be present. I have been going to yoga in the mornings, and after my workouts, the first thing I do when I get home is drink tons of water, walk Koko, feed my rescues, check the garden or walk the property, and take a shower because I’m usually so sweaty after sculpt. 🌧 • For breakfast, I enjoy a freshly made juice, followed by taking my supplements and either a delicious smoothie bowl or even banana nice cream for lunch. I’ll spend time getting some computer work done, and then I’ll go spend time in my garden. I might also snack on some yummy exotic fruits. 🍓 • My garden received a little glow up recently, and the fresh greens are starting to grow in beautifully. I started picking my first zucchinis, Swiss chard, and beets of the season. Growing your own food is such a powerful experience.
