Kin: Relating to movement⁣ Stretch: To extend to full length⁣ ⁣ @kinstretch class combines both movement and stretching. We use body weight exercises to strengthen undertrained ranges of motion.⁣ ⁣ The body is a complex multicellular organism made of many different moving parts. We are the the sum of those parts. If a certain part doesn’t operate functionally like it should, movement will be restricted there, and other parts of the body will compensate to get the job done.⁣ ⁣ Bone and muscle cells in the body are constantly undergoing a process of being replaced (cellular proliferation). Every 7-10 years almost all cells in your body are different. How does the body know where to replace new cells?⁣ ⁣ On earth, gravity applies a constant mechanical load to the skeletal system. It is these forces that our body constantly adapt to which keeps our bones and muscles healthy and serving purpose. In fact once in space, bone loss happens at a rate 10 times faster than osteoporosis on earth. ⁣ ⁣ The nervous system is connected to your muscles, and uses mechanical receptors located in the muscle, skin, and joints to provide information back to the brain. This tells the brain where the body is in space. Using mechanical force inputs (mobility training), communicates and provides directional organization to new cells. Otherwise they simply won’t rebuild due to lack of stimulus, or will rearrange in an unorganized fashion (scar tissue). This leads to lack of strength, and lack of flexibility as we age.⁣ ⁣ Having mobility is a quality of life measure. With use it or lose it also in mind, our job is to manage our foundation (parts) over time to prevent entropy.
