As children all over the world go back to school, there are millions more who still have no school to go back to. Across the world, children in remote, marginalised communities are missing out on education. ⠀ ⠀ Heena and Soneeya dream of going to school. Instead, their days are spent working hard on their family's farm, cutting grass and feeding cattle to keep their family fed. ⠀ ⠀ ''When I see other children of the village going to school, I wish my sister and I could go too. This is Radhani. Before UWS built a school in her village, the nearest school was two hours away. The walk was too far, and Radhani didn't have time for learning and helping take care of her family. ⠀ ⠀ 👭 Now, her school is less than a 10 minute walk, and she is joined by her sister every day on her journey to school.* When they arrive, Radhani and her classmates all have breakfast together to give them plenty of energy for learning. ⠀ ⠀ 🩺 When she's older, Radhani hopes to become a doctor. We have an exciting announcement 📢⠀ ⠀ As part of our UWS-2030 vision, our goal over the next decade is to reach 250,000 primary school aged children with a UWS classroom, and a quality, inclusive education. ⠀ ⠀ In support of this, we are delighted to announce the launch of a pilot project in Madagascar in partnership with Blue Ventures @beyondconservation and the Axian Foundation. We will construct five schools in the remote communities of Andavadoaka, a fishing village located in Madagascar’s Velondriake region on the southwest coast of Madagascar. Only 1 in 3 children in the Velondriake area currently have access to a classroom, and every child deserves the chance to get an education. ⠀ ⠀ We are so proud to be launching this project with Blue Ventures at the Axian Foundation, and we look forward to sharing the success of the pilot.⠀ ⠀ 📸 : Shutterstock
