This summer has been sailing by and we have been spending time finding some local gems in our favorite Jersey shore towns. 💎 Lavallette is our happy place and we are in love with the new D’Amores Toast. It is the perfect little spot to enjoy a fresh breakfast or lunch, inside or out on a summer day. This is @damores_toast first season started by a Jersey teacher who was looking to create her own legacy each summer. Simple toasts made with the finest and simplest ingredients. There are no pictures from those times together just this… DEACH gave me this when I left his camp for good to persue the next steps in my career. He impacted my work throughout my life in ways I had forgotten until recently. The grit, the hustle, the drive… I can remember the first time I got a call from him. I had gone back home to heal after the Pier 34 Collapse. I was sitting in my old room in NJ trying to make sense of what had happened and what I was going to do next. DEACH somehow found me and was able to convince me to come back for ONE meeting because he had bought Evolution and needed someone to run events. I was not interested. I had no intention of working in nightlife again let alone walk in one. He said I would never have to walk inside the venue… He had this way about meeting you where you were at, then pushing you to your potential… The offices were on other side of town so he wasn’t lying but this was his first step in getting me to stay a while. I somehow agreed and by the end I was coming back to Philly between physical therapy 2x a week to work with him to get our Construction Opening Party underway and “layer” the night. #iykyk He would rock back and forth on those big swivel chairs, chewing on a toothpick and smoking cigarettes and listening and just when you thought he was looking past you… He was plotting, thinking, creating, figuring it out. NO was never an option EVER. He valued everyone’s opinion in those promotions meetings and he believed in you when you didn’t believe in yourself. He pushed you as far as you could go and when you thought that was your creative limit he made you think again and you went further. Then, he was your biggest cheerleader because he knew what you didn’t know. His laugh was infectious… he was loud and quiet. His loyalty was true and rare. He was respected by so many. He was a preacher, peacemaker, a prankster, a problem solver, the bee keeper. He spoke with you not at you, he listened but you learned. It was exciting to watch him constantly creating somethings out of nothings. ❤️ #evolution #local13 #essentialconcepts #philly #thosewerethedays

Despite growing up less than 3 miles apart, Mike + Meg didn’t cross paths until 2015—they became fast friends. Initially intrigued by the opposite nature of each other’s personalities, they quickly realized that when it came to the most important things in life, they couldn’t have been more in sync.
