Arborexence by Loris Cecchini has just opened at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel as part of Mitico! Arborexence a sculptural installation by artist Loris Cecchini, composed of a branching lattice of stainless steel that spreads harmoniously over the façade of Le Manoir. Echoing and augmenting the foliage that the building is famous for, the propagation of modules also recalls microbiology and science, with the fronds branching in a similar way to life at cellular level. Two new exhibitions by #EvaJospin are opening in Avignon this month! ‘Palazzo’, opens from 30 June 2023 to 7 January 2024 at @palais_des_papes. Works by the artist occupy different spaces of the site, inviting visitors to walk amongst Jospin's dreamlike and surreal creations that respond to the history and architecture of the pontifical residence. 'Contre-Monde', opens from July 1 to September 17 2023 at @collectionlambert. This exhibition, curated by @stephane_ibars, takes place in the rooms of the Rendez-vous, Basement program initiated by the Collection Lambert in Avignon in 2019. Marcelo Cidade was born in São Paulo in 1979, where he lives and works. Through an often subversive and informal practice, the artist questions the ideals of modernist architecture, appropriates urban spaces and, by means of various aesthetic operations, invents new idioms, constructing fresh and surprising spaces. The intimate bond which, for Cidade, holds together art and life authorizes the artist to explore the continual oscillating flow between the social and the personal sphere. Comparing established social relations and values, Cidade produces an “aesthetics of resistance”; he creates works that express complex social conflicts and brings signs and situations from the street into spaces given over to art. The artist’s works emphasize an encounter between art and society, without neglecting to privilege poetic expression and the discussion of language, they are also inspired politically by notions of challenge and transgression. One of Cidade’s interests is the public space generated in the urban and technological flux of the surveillance society. He concentrates on one place to reach another one, setting in motion a process of dislocation from the historic-geographic to the poetic. The city is the privileged site of events, and it is here that the artist looks for his work materials. Streets, walls, flyovers, squares, shutters are a challenge for his gaze. We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Alberto Garutti, artist and professor. “Ti vogliamo bene hai coltivato uno spirito dell’arte che ci nutrirà sempre, grazie Alberto! We love you and you have cultivated a spirit of art that will enrich us forever, thank you Alberto!” Lorenzo, Mario and Maurizio. Alongside many years of friendship, we worked so memorably with him with @associazioneartecontinua for Arte all’Arte in 2000 and 2005. Alberto Garutti was the only Italian artist of the millennial edition of Arte all’Arte in 2000, curated by #RobertoPinto and #GildaWilliams. A characteristic of the works that Alberto Garutti carried out in public spaces was that the projects met the needs, hopes & desires of those who live there. Garutti used this opportunity to further deepen his choice of background and, after having "lived" for some time in this city, Colle di Val d’Elsa, having spoken to people and heard their basic needs, he decided to intervene by restoring the seat of the Bellini choir, among the most symbolic & important for the community but which had not been used for some time. In the final 2005 edition of Arte all'Arte, for which all the curators of the previous editions chose from the 70 artists who had already participated 6 artists for this final edition of the project, Alberto Garutti was one of the artists who obtained the highest number of preferences, meaning he was someone who best knew how to interpret the idea of Arte all’Arte. He conceived a work in the church of SS. Pietro e Paolo in Buonconvento where he positioned thousands of lamps on the wall of the left aisle of the church. Anyone living in Buonconvento or anywhere in the world, could call a number and turn on a small light as a sign of spirituality. The cost of each call was donated to the implementation of of drinking water systems in Sri Lanka. The work was dedicated to the citizens of the town but also all those who far way wanted to pass by there in their thoughts. Alberto, you will always be in our thoughts, we admire and carry forward your belief that art can change people and communities, buon viaggio.

This week two new steps of Michelangelo Pistoletto's great exhibition in all Galleria Continua locations open in Rome and Paris, so let's look back to 'Amar las diferencias' at @artecontinua_lahabana! Flanking the mirrored table of @michelangelo_pistoletto’s Mar dei Caraibi (2003-2005), there are two large-scale representations of the two performances where the symbol of the Third Paradise has been recreated. One of them took place on Havana's Malecon on December 16th, 2014. That day, the Rebirth-Day embassy in Cuba staged an event of great symbolic significance: a number of fishing boats in small and medium sizes constantly moved in circles, coordinated by the artist Kcho and curator Laura Salas, forming the symbol of the Third Paradise on the sea near Havana. This performance was the first one made with this symbol in the city and featured in Havana’s Biennial in May, 2015 as well as a few more later on. The other performance was held in Ariana Park, in front of the United Nations Palace in Geneva, Switzerland. On the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the birth of the UN celebrations, the Third Paradise by Michelangelo Pistoletto was inaugurated: Rebirth 70 represented the hope that a revival of the main values of the Nations League, established in 1945, will be ushered in. In the garden of the UN Palace in Geneva, a space was dedicated to this installation which featured: a symbol of the Third Paradise, created with stones coming from countries that are part of the UN. Each stone attests a member of the group. The symbol of the triad of the Third Paradise is the reconfiguration of the mathematical symbol of infinity; it is made up of three consecutive circles.
