Today we encountered four different matralines of Biggs Killer Whales. First we found the T028A's who spend most of their time in S.E. Alaska. T019 (Mooyah) took two harbour porpoises in less than 5 minutes off the bottom of Lasqueti Island a few days ago. T019B (Galiano) started to hunt the second harbour porpoise but was being completely out maneuvered by the harbour porpoise and gave up rather quickly. � Sometimes the search pays off… It's hard to believe that this marks my 20th year of exploring the Salish Sea and beyond in search of whales and wildlife. From day one, I embraced the role of a relentless searcher, always ready to go the extra nautical mile (or 20!) What lies beyond the next rocky islet or just around the corner of that reef? The thrill of the unknown has been my compass. The hope of epic encounters with marine mammals is undeniably thrilling, yet it's the search itself that truly feeds my soul. It’s a gift to spend time on the water and call what we do at Ocean EcoVentures a job. Today was one of those days when the search paid off in both respects. As I came across T019 and T019B making short work of two harbour porpoises in quick succession. Humpback Heaven never fails to amaze at our Parksville location.🐋❤️ We have two locations on Vancouver Island. Our Cowichan Bay location is a little more Killer Whale centric where as our Parksville location is more Humpback centric. We still encounter Humpbacks from our Cowichan Bay location but many days from our Parksville location we encounter aggregations of over 20 Humpbacks. We also encounter Killer Whales from our Parksville but if Killer Whales are on your bucket list Our Cowichan location is the place to be. Witness the splendour of Jervis Inlet’s many Waterfalls. Visit Chatterbox Falls, Encounter Whales & Wildlife along the way for an amazing full day adventure. Jervis Inlet is a magical fjord where warm sun melts the mountain snowpack which creates as many as 60 waterfalls cascading down massive granite walls of the coastal fjord. Jervis Inlet and Princess Louisa Inlets are fjords carved out by glaciers and has three arms, or reaches – Prince of Wales Reach, Princess Royal Reach and Queen’s Reach. Princess Louisa Reach is a side inlet off Queen’s Reach. At the end of Princess Louisa Reach is the stunning Chatterbox Falls tumbling 40 metres to the rocky shoreline below. Our full day adventure explores the Salish Sea for whale and wildlife while traveling to Jervis Inlet. There are chances to encounter Biggs Killer Whales, Humpback Whales, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, Sea Lions, Bears and Bald Eagles. Then experience the many waterfalls of Jervis Inlet on the way to Malibu Rapids and beyond to Chatterbox Falls.
