#CafeArtProject Στο πλαίσιο του project, το Μουσείο παρουσιάζει το έργο “Stories of Martyrdom” της @shirin__neshat Η Shirin Neshat χρησιμοποιεί το μέσο της φωτογραφίας, του φιλμ και του βίντεο για να εμβαθύνει σε ζητήματα θηλυκότητας, θρησκείας, ταυτότητας, εξορίας και πολιτιστικής ιστορίας. Αναλύει τη γυναικεία διάσταση στη σύγχρονη ισλαμική κοινωνία, ιδιαίτερα την ιρανική από την οποία προέρχεται και η ίδια. Το έργο “Stories of Martyrdom” είναι μέρος της διάσημης φωτογραφικής σειράς “Women of Allah”, που ολοκληρώθηκε μεταξύ 1993 και 1997, μέσω της οποίας η καλλιτέχνιδα εξερευνά την πολυπλοκότητα της γυναικείας διάστασης στο Ιράν μετά την Ισλαμική Επανάσταση του 1978-1979. Shirin Neshat uses photography, film, and video to explore issues of femininity, religion, identity, exile, and cultural history. She analyzes the female dimension in contemporary Islamic society and in particular the Iranian one that she herself comes from. The work “Stories of Martyrdom” is part of her celebrated photographic series “Women of Allah”, made between 1993 and 1997, through which the artist explores the complexity of the female dimension in Iran after the Islamic Revolution in 1978-1979. In “Women of Allah”, overlaid black-and-white photographs of veiled Iranian women, often holding firearms, are covered from texts in Farsi words, whose contents vary from religious to secular subjects, exploring the spheres of intimacy, sexuality, and feminism. #CycladicYoungPatrons Young Patrons | Μονοήμερη εκδρομή στην Αίγινα Οι Young Patrons του Μουσείου ταξίδεψαν στην Αίγινα σε μια μονοήμερη εκδρομή με επισκέψεις σε ιδιωτικούς χώρους σύγχρονης τέχνης και πολιτισμού και σημεία αρχαιολογικού ενδιαφέροντος. Πρώτος σταθμός ήταν η κατοικία και ατελιέ του Κώστα Βαρώτσου. Εκεί ο καλλιτέχνης μοιράστηκε ιστορίες σχετικά με το έργο και την ζωή του. Η εκδρομή συνεχίστηκε στο σπίτι του Ροδάκη, ένα από τα σημαντικότερα μνημεία νεότερης πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς του νησιού. Εκεί ο αρχιτέκτονας και σημερινός ιδιοκτήτης της κατοικίας, Διονύσης Σοτοβίκης ξενάγησε τους Young Patrons στον μοναδικό αυτό χώρο. Συνέχεια είχε μια ξενάγηση στο ναό της Αφαίας και το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο, από την αρχαιολόγο του Μουσείου Μαριέττα Κυπριωτάκη, ενώ ακολούθησε μεσημεριανό γεύμα. The first stop was the house and atelier of the renowned artist Costas Varotsos @costasvarotsos The artist shared anecdotes about his lifework. The excursion continued with a visit to Rodakis Residence, one of the most important monuments of the newest cultural heritage of Aegina. The architect and current owner of the house Dionisis Sotovikis @dionisis_sotovikis walked the Young Patrons through this excellent example of traditional local architecture. The next stop was a visit to the Temple of Aphaia and the Archaeological Museum accompanied by a guided tour from the Museum's archaeologist Marietta Kypriotaki followed by lunch. Η έκθεση εστιάζει στις κοινωνικές συγκρούσεις που συνοδεύουν την ανθρωπότητα από τις απαρχές της και στις διαφορετικές εκφάνσεις τους μέσω των αντιπαραθέσεων, του ταξισμού και του ανταγωνισμού, των απεργιών και των εργασιακών συγκρούσεων, της πάλης των τάξεων και των επαναστάσεων και του πολέμου. Στην εποχή μας βιώνουμε πολλές μορφές κρίσεων καθώς ο κόσμος βρίσκεται σε διαδικασία συνεχούς αλλαγής. Οι συγκρούσεις αποτελούν αναπόφευκτη συνέπεια. Όλοι μας στο Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης αποχαιρετούμε με μεγάλη θλίψη την Σοφία Γιαλουράκη. Η Σοφία ήταν η εμψυχώτρια των παιδικών προγραμμάτων του Μουσείου κάθε Σάββατο από το 1986 έως και το 2009. Παιδαγωγός και συγγραφέας πολλών παιδικών βιβλίων ήταν η αγαπημένη όλων των παιδιών αλλά και των γονιών τους που έμαθαν να αγαπούν το μουσείο μέσα από τα προγράμματά της.

#HappyMothersDay Σας ευχόμαστε χαρούμενη Ημέρα της Μητέρας με μερικά αντικείμενα των μόνιμων εκθέσεων του Μουσείου που «μιλούν» για τη μητρότητα. Το πρώτο, ένα χάλκινο ειδώλιο των πρώτων μεταχριστιανικών αιώνων, παριστάνει μια αρκούδα, στην ράχη της οποίας κρατιέται αναπαυτικά και με ασφάλεια το αρκουδάκι της. Το δεύτερο, ένα θραύσμα μαρμάρινου κυκλαδικού ειδωλίου της 3ης χιλιετίας π.Χ. παριστάνει τον κορμό μιας γυναικείας μορφής. Σε αυτόν προβάλλονται με έμφαση τα στοιχεία εκείνα που συνδέονται με τη γονιμότητα, την αναπαραγωγή και τη μητρότητα, όπως το στήθος και η ελαφρώς φουσκωμένη κοιλιά. Το τρίτο, ένα σταυρόσχημο ειδώλιο, που χρονολογείται στην 4η ή στο α’ μισό της 3ης χιλιετίας π.Χ. και αποδίδει μία γυναικεία μορφή να κρατά στα χέρια της μια μικρότερη, ενδεχομένως μια μητέρα με το παιδί της. Πρόκειται για τρία αντικείμενα που αποτυπώνουν με συναρπαστικό τρόπο τον συμβολικό χαρακτήρα της μητρότητας, όπως αναδεικνύεται σε όλες τις μορφές τέχνης από την αρχαιότητα έως και σήμερα. ••• We wish you Happy Mother’s Day with a selection of objects from the Museum’s permanent exhibition, narrating the uniqueness of motherhood. The first, a bronze figurine from the early post-Christian centuries, depicts a bear with her cub comfortably and securely held on her back. The second, a fragment of a marble Cycladic figurine from the 3rd millennium BC, depicts a female torso. The figure seems to stress those feminine attributes associated with fertility, reproduction, and maternity, such as breasts and a slightly swollen belly. The third, a cruciform figurine, dating to the 4th or first half of the 3rd millennium BC, represents a female figure holding a smaller one, possibly a mother and her child, in her arms. These three exhibits capture the symbolic nature of motherhood, as it is expressed in all forms of art from antiquity to the present day.
