Chadian women have long hair not because of the Chébé but because they do protective styles. This is a comment I receive a lot and I disagree with. When I do a protective style, I keep it for an entire month, but Chadian women unbraid their hair every 3 to 5 days, some women even every two days, and they detangle their hair with force. It is the combination of water to moisturize, oil to seal the moisture, and the Chébé powder to strengthen that helps them retain length. If you want to try the Chébé powder, you can mix it once a week in your deep conditioner, let it sit for an hour before rinsing. We also formulated a Chébé infused oil that you can use as a pree-poo. The butter used by nomadic women in the Sahel for centuries is finally back. Fulani and Wodabee women call it “nebam nei” and Chadian women call it “dee-heen baggar”. This butter is effective in detangling dry hair before styling and to keep the hair very supple. It is an essential for nomadic women in Africa and you will not be able to go without it. It provides intense softness, manageability and shine to the hair, combined with an anti-frizz effect.

Do you know the detangling power of ambunu. I often talk about its cleansing properties but its most powerful feature is its ability to detangle with ease. If you hardly tolerate chemicals and you want something completely natural to detangle your hair you must try Ambunu. This how you can use it, if your hair has a lot of buildup, wash your hair with shampoo then mix one cup of boiling water with one cup of ambunu and use this thick gel as a detangling conditioner. Ambunu works on curly hair, kinky hair and relaxed hair.

If there is one product on our site that we don’t need to market, it’s our hair vitamins and spirulina. Our customers love this product so much that as soon as it’s back in stock, it sells out immediately before we even have a chance to market it. Our vitamins contain a blend of vitamins, minerals, plant extracts, and spirulina, all promoting hair growth from within. Spirulina is harvested for consumption by the Kanembu people in the Lake Chad region. This algae possesses remarkable nutritional value, resulting in incredible health benefits because it is loaded with proteins, vitamins, and minerals that benefit both skin and hair.

Can you use ambunu as a leave-in? In the country of Niger, women from the Tuareg tribe call ambunu “yoddo” and they use it as a shampoo, conditioner, and detangler, and they leave it in. There is no harm in leaving ambunu on your hair; it is actually very moisturizing. To use ambunu, mix one cup of ambunu with one cube of boiling water, then use it to detangle. Sahel Cosmetics

Why does our African nomad hair butter smell so bad? The butter is made from fermented milk, which develops strong, distinct odors during the fermentation process. Unlike commercially produced butters, traditional African hair butter is not refined or deodorized, retaining all of its natural scents and compounds. Here is how I use this butter without being annoyed by the smell: When I remove my weave, braid, or protective style, my hair is very dry and impossible to comb while dry. So, I saturate my hair with this butter and let it sit for an hour. Then, I proceed to detangle my hair while it’s dry. After that, I shampoo and condition my hair. As someone who likes to wear weaves and braids often, this butter has made my wash day after a protective style very easy and break-free. Sahel Cosmetics

Chadian women who use Chebe typically do not wash their hair frequently. Based on my observations and conversations during my visit to Chad, I learned that while Chadian women in urban areas tend to wash their hair regularly, those in Chebe-using villages follow a different routine. In these villages, women do not wash their hair in the conventional sense. Instead, every 3 to 5 days, they unbraid their hair, remove excess Chebe powder, reapply water, oil, and Chebe, and then rebraid it. This is their traditional practice, and I respect their way of life. For those who wish to incorporate Chebe powder into their hair care routine more conveniently, you can mix Chebe powder with your deep conditioner during your weekly deep conditioning session. Let it sit for an hour before rinsing. Additionally, we have formulated a Chebe-infused oil that can be used as a pre-poo treatment for your hair.

Why don’t Chadian women have edges? I receive this question every day since I made the Chebe hair powder video. First of all, not all Chadian women lack edges. In cities, they tend to pay more attention to their edges, but in many rural areas and certain tribes or sub-tribes, having a very large forehead is considered a sign of beauty. They make tiny braids at the front, and these braids are so tight that they cause traction on the scalp. This is what they like; they prefer to have long hair in the back and a large forehead at the front. Obviously, in most countries, not having edges is not considered attractive, so you should pay attention to traction when you braid your hair and avoid any tension on your scalp. If you want to retain length like they do, we have been selling Chadian Chebe powder since 2017. Most of our clients like to use it as a deep conditioner. Once a week, they mix the Chebe powder with their favorite deep conditioner, let it sit for an hour, and then rinse it out. We also formulated a Chebe infused oil that you can use as a prepoo.

Does chebe powder grow hair? The clear answer is no. So why do Chadian women have long hair using chebe. It is because your hair naturally grows from your scalp every month and the chebe routine helps to reduce breakage and strengthen your hair. The ends of your hair being preserved, length is naturally showing. So how can you incorporate chebe into your regimen? Chadian women have a complicated routine that is difficult for a modern woman to apply. What you can do is during your weekly or monthly wash day, mix the chebe powder with a deep conditioner and let it sit on your hair for an hour before rinsing. We also formulated a Chébé infused oil, that you can use on your hair before shampoo.

Milami has been using our Chébé powder since day one, ever since Miss Sahel introduced it globally in 2017, and her results have been amazing. We’ve always been honest with you, letting you know that Chebe isn’t for the scalp and doesn’t directly promote hair growth. However, it does reduce breakage and promote length retention, which is why Chadian women have long hair – it prevents breakage. One effective way to use Chebe powder is by mixing it with your deep conditioner and using it for weekly deep conditioning treatments to strengthen your hair.

Could be an unpopular opinion but I love oiling my hair as a prepoo! This Chebe infused oil from @sahel.cosmetics is my favorite! It makes my hair so easy to detangle, which is helped to retain my length! It’s important to focus the oil on your ends to help with knots and split ends. I leave this in my hair for an hour before I wash and yall it’s changed my life! Idk I like oils on natural hair, I know that’s become kinda controversial but it works for me 🤭✨❤️ do you use oils in your hair routine? Follow @shesnatural96 for more hair content 🥰
