‘milk and honey’ 10-year anniversary collector’s edition is here!! 🧡🩷🐝 consider this a director’s cut of the original book - my favorite part is the new chapter of poetry called ‘the remembering.’ this chapter has 40 new poems and 20 illustrations about what it feels to be left. to feel broken. to rise beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. and to discover that the greatest power move you can make when people want to see you unhappy- is to love yourself 🥰 i’ve also included an introduction written by me. handwritten reflections and drawings. and an archive of photos and diary entries from a decade ago. available now via the link in my bio 🐝 thank you for making ‘milk and honey’ one of the highest selling books of poetry in history. i love you i love you i love you!! i want to celebrate by giving away signed copies of this new edition to you and your bestie - tag them in the comments and i’ll choose 10 winners 💘

Last week I received the 2025 Library and Archives Canada Scholar Award alongside 4 other incredible authors. Thank you to the librarians and archivists @libraryarchives working so hard to document Canadian history. This honour not only belongs to me, but it also belongs to those not initially given a seat at the table. The underrepresented. The often overlooked. To my beloved Sikh and Punjabi community who I would not exist without. And it also belongs to the migrants, like those on the Kama Gata Maru, who arrived at Canada’s shores but were never given a chance in this country. These stories of both sorrow and triumph are why national archives are important. The most exciting part of this award is knowing I won’t be the first of my community or genre to do so. There are so many more to come 🌺🫶🏽 Authors @thedannyramadan , @gabrielle.boulianne.t , Thomson Highway, and Margaret MacMillan won this year’s award alongside me. They write beautiful books. Purchase, read, and share their work 🌺♥️ 🇨🇦 Canada, thank you for always cheering me on! I love you.

the maldives just set a whole new standard for performing 😮‍💨 like i’m not sure i’ll perform anymore unless the ocean is my backdrop 💅🏽 and the people. oh my god maldivians have such giant loving hearts. thank you to the @fariislandsfestival for having me. I know I came for “work” but my heart was nourished by the community. and a big thank you to everyone at @patinamaldives for making the experience unforgettable. you all became family. and yes i am still on my sabbatical but when the maldives calls you ask what dates and pack your bags 🤣 (shots by @carolinagiraldov , @matiasderada and @raxxan n )

taking a sabbatical is something i’ve wanted for a long time. but it was hard to step away from the machine and say ‘i’ve had enough for a while’. but at the end of last year the fear of how my art would suffer if i didn’t take a break finally outgrew all the other fears. so i took the sabbatical (which is why i’ve been pretty inactive on here these past 9 months) and during this time away i’ve been discovering who i am outside of my work. i’ve been developing a deeper trust in my voice. i’m nervous and excited about the future. i want to catch you up on everything i’ve learned. i love this community. you guys are my little place on the internet that still feels like love and hope. you’re beautiful and wonderful and you inspire me to keep writing and sharing. and that’s def one thing this sabbatical taught me: i love writing. even more: i love sharing with you. i love you i love you i love you. it’s good to be back ♥️

i wrote ‘milk and honey’ when i was just a girl. 10 years later i’m a whole ass woman!! i cannot wait to show you what the woman i am today is creating 🥰 i’m moving into the new year with more - self trust - curiosity - inner calm leaving behind - the voices (internal and external) that no longer serve me - fear of the unknown - self doubt
