:: I’m planning a series of short online workshops – the first one (July 1) is about the basics of pointed pen calligraphy, the second one (July 8) about the basics of flourishing (in German). — If you’re interested in the topics in an English speaking class with me, please let me know (DM or E-Mail)! It would be great to add your time zone or simply the place where you are – so I can decide if and when an English class would make sense. Thanks so much! :: #calligraphy #kalligrafie #calligraphyworkshop #kalligrafieworkshop #pointedpencalligraphy #spitzfederkalligrafie #flourishing #verzierungen #kalligrafielernen #calligraphybasics #kalligrafiebasics

Something very different today – meet Inky & Nib! These two sweet boys have been with us now for several months, brightening up our lifes with their charm, cheerfulness and playfulness. I’m glad to have cats in my life again after so many years – I grew up with a dear, shy but affectionate tabby girl, who was very much loved. What is it with calligraphers and cats, I know so many who have cats? #cats #cat #catlove #blackcats #blackcatslove #blackcatsbringluck #familiycats #calligracats #katzen #katzenliebe #schwarzekatzen #schwarzekatzenbringenglück #familienkatzen

It’s unusual for me to have such vibrant colors on my palette … It was a joy personalizing the classic boxes for @jomalonelondon with watercolor flowers and calligraphy ☺️! Thanks also to the lovely counter team in the @kadeweofficial who were very welcoming. And again thanks to @petrawoehrmann ❤️. #watercolors #onsite #onsitepainting #onsitecalligraphy #jomalone #kadewe #aquarell #botanicalart #botanicalillustration #thistle #achillea #mallow #heather #botanisch #distel #malve #heidekraut #schafgarbe #perfumes #perfumecalligraphy #perfumeillustration #perfumeart @schmincke_official

Thanks to my dear and estimated colleague @petrawoehrmann who has to cancel because of a sudden illness, today I am again for @jomalonelondon in the @kadeweofficial to paint and calligraph on the gorgeous fragrance boxes. Thanks again, Petra and Jo Malone for entrusting me with this beautiful job! Here some examples of yesterday’s work. #watercolors #onsite #onsitepainting #onsitecalligraphy #jomalone #kadewe #aquarell #botanicalart #botanicalillustration #thistle #achillea #mallow #heather #botanisch #distel #malve #heidekraut #schafgarbe #perfumes #perfumecalligraphy #perfumeillustration #perfumeart

In the last days I had the pleasure of personalizing the gorgeous perfume flacons and candles by Diptyque in the KaDeWe Berlin. I enjoyed working with these very uniquely and beautifully designed products. Matching their visual language with my lettering was a welcome challenge! #calligraphy #kalligrafie #kalligraphie #eventcalligraphy #diptyque #diptyqueberlin #kadewe #handlettering #handletteredtype #calligraphyonglass #typographyinspired #typography #pencilsketches #penciltype

Love it or leave it. I did both 😅.

I had a wonderful time yesterday teaching Kurrent script in the style of the late 1700s, early 1800s to roughly 25 people in the Berlin State Library! Thanks so much for inviting me, @staatsbibliothek_zu_berlin, and thanks to everyone for coming ☺️! :: #calligraphy #handwriting #handschrift #kalligrafie #etahoffmann #etahoffmannexhibition #unheimlichfantastisch #kurrentscript #kurrentschrift #calligraphyworkshop #handwritingworkshop #staatsbibliothekzuberlin #flourishforum #federflugcalligraphy

:: #calligraphy #kalligrafie #handschrift #handwriting #kurrent #kurrentschrift #kurrentscript #calligraphyworkshop #staatsbibliothekzuberlin #unheimlichfantastisch #etahoffmann #flourishforum #federflugcalligraphy

It’s not so rare that I get asked where I draw my inspiration from. Of course there are all the great copybooks of the past, the work of all the writing masters and mistresses (can you say that?), inscriptions, books, printed and handwritten, paintings and drawings … but in a way for me Nature is the best artist! Especially when it comes to color schemes, materialities, haptics and so on, I find it indefinitely inspiring. I was so happy to spend some days in the Swiss Alps this Summer. The pictures are from the area around the Lauterbrunnen valley and its surrounding mountain ranges (up to 4000 meters – the 5th picture is from the foot of the notoriously dangerous Eiger Nordwand – I mean, it’s dangerous to climb it, not wandering around its base 😅). Side note for fantasy geeks: The valley was actually an important inspiration for Tolkien – he describes Rivendell very similarly – as well as the high mountains, the Silberhorn (silver horn) in particular are models for the misty mountains and Caradhras 😊. :: #inspiration #switzerland #lauterbrunnen #tolkien #nature #alps #mountains #mountainlovers

Finally invested in a pair of work glasses – money well spent! It’s so much more comfortable to write when I don’t have to hunch over the table for close-up stuff … I tried some years ago, but I guess they were just not very well adjusted to my specific needs. This time they work wonderfully! Btw I’m studying here some German Kurrent scripts from the 18th century – nothing beats a quill for broad pen writing if you ask me ☺️ … :: #calligraphy #kalligrafie #kurrentscript #kurrentschrift #quill #federkiel #handwriting #handschrift #flourishforum #federflugcalligraphy

More Roman Cursive – that’s a throwback to last autumn, I made several of these as gift tags … and swipe if you want to get a look at our quince tree in bloom, I guess it’s the latest fruit tree here in the North …? So beautiful. Last year we only had three actual fruits to harvest, so hopefully, there seem to grow many more this year! #calligraphy #kalligrafie #kalligraphie #caligrafia #caligrafía #calligraphie #romanmonoline #lettering #romancursive #typographyrelated #watercolors #aquarellfarbe #aquarellfarben  #schmincke #horadam #horadamaquarell #calligraphypractice #letterlove #handwriting #gifttag #handmade #handmadegifttag #geschenkanhänger #quince #quitte #handgemacht #madewithlove #handschrift #flourishforum #federflugcalligraphy
