Spliced throwline.there’s not really much else that can be said about it. Oh, buy Harrison Rockets, they are the best:) #throwline #throwball #fidsnfibres #tinyfid #treeclimbing #rigging

Redirect consisting of a cinch that is backed up with a ropeman... I’m not saying it’s approved (by anyone) but it works bloody well. Absolutely no retrieval tail, nothing to snag or open the cams....

First climb in 5 weeks!! Just a thin out of a rain tree that was putting too much shade onto a garden ( my garden, we’re still not allowed to work). I do find though that DRT is a lot more forgiving, especially in small trees where it’s all about very fine delicate movements. Anyone else find small trees harder to work on than big trees?? #lockdownsessions Friction Hitch vs Mechanical, SRT vs DRT. Does it matter? If you are new to tree climbing, do you need to know a Blake’s hitch? If you jump straight on SRT do you need to know DRT? What knots do you need to know? In an emergency can you pick up any piece of gear and know how to set it up and use it? Can you lower your teammate on the gear they use? My opinion is get to try everything, you may not use it everyday but when you need to, you’ll be glad you know how to. Keep it interesting and try different gear to what you normally do- a day on Blake’s will make you appreciate your zigzag! What’s your favourite colour? Black or Red ? Personally I’d love to see a vibrant blue or purple!! Mainly because I have a habit of losing black components and my eyes are rubbish at seeing shades of red.. @dmm_wales #captainhook #traversecity #hookerlife #treeclimbing #dmmwales

With new waterfalls to abseil down and unknown sharp sticky out bits, I thought it was a good idea to get some rope protection. I haven’t used these yet ( we’re still in lockdown) but I’m excited to get them dirty! Nice and simple so I’m hoping there will be no issues. - vt will probably get changed to a small ascender to hold it in place on rope. @dmm_wales @yalecordage #edgepro #technogasm #waterfalls #climbing

The lockdown gym is open!! Saw this setup on another insta page so thought I’d recreate it- it works great. Really easy to do and the @tindequipment hand holds are perfect. @dmm_wales @yalecordage #lockdown #treeclimbing #treegym #treegear

We’re not allowed to work at the moment due to lockdown, but it’s pretty nice to be wearing some new threads when we can get back at it. The new xs in seam leg for trainee climber. @cloggernz #zero #chainsawsafety #nzmade #chainsaw #treework

Thought I’d show a few variations of a typical English Reeve setup that would be used in arb. First up is the setup using a rigging hub- the extra carabiners are for the ropes ( not pictured) to move back and forth, 2nd is same but using a rigging plate- haul lines can just be tied direct to the plate ( or to the beckets of the revolver rigs), 3rd pic is how much more streamlined the Keanu is - haul line can be connected to the push pins. 4th pic just showing how much confusion v Keanu can occur! The first 3 pics do have the advantage that all the gear can be used for other jobs when needed though. Whilst using these setups in arb isn’t common, I believe this will change over time as we start to look at tree work ops differently, especially when there is no crane access. Interested to hear your thoughts. 9 years ago, cheers Facebook memories! This was my first chopper job in NZ, removing 2 stone dead pine trees for Auckland Council. I learned so much doing treework in NZ- from competition climbing to Heli removals. @yalecordage @dmm_wales #treework #treeremoval #asplundh #ocieaniaheli #helicopter #bigtrees #climbing #rigging

Who doesn’t love getting a new pair of boots? I’ve worn salewa for over a decade now and just find that they fit my feet perfectly. This is the Crow GTX model. Fairly stiff sole. I don’t like recommending boots as everyone has there own experiences, diff work conditions, feet width etc. but for me, these are just ace.( I’ve had this model before) @salewa #salewa #climbing #boots #rigging #treeclimbing
