Bravo à @nobelkoty , lauréat de la quatrième édition du Prix @ellipseartprojects 2024. Après le Sénégal, la Côte d’Ivoire et le Togo, cette édition avec la thématique “Tradition contemporaine” est dédiée au Bénin. Né en 1988 à Cotonou, Bénin, Nobel Koty crée des autoportraits lui permettant de sonder son monde intérieur. Sa démarche artistique introspective explore la notion de pudeur et le lien que l’individu entretient avec son enveloppe charnelle, qui protège et réconforte, faisant ainsi de ses toiles un refuge où la fragilité humaine peut se dévoiler sans retenue. Ses oeuvres révèlent la vulnérabilité de l’être humain, en invitant à une réflexion sur la condition humaine, il encourage chacun à explorer à son tour les méandres de sa propre existence pour mieux appréhender le monde qui nous entoure. After Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Togo, the theme of this year’s competition, “Contemporary Tradition”, is dedicated to Benin. Born in 1988, Nobel Koty creates self-portaits allowing him to explore his inner world. He explores the bond between the individual and their carnal envelope, which protects and comforts, making his canvases a refuge where human fragility can be revealed without restraint. Through his work, Nobel Koty offers a deep reflection on the human condition, inviting everyone to explore the intricacies of our own being in order to better understand the world around us. Découvrez “Dreams of the San” la première exposition à Paris de peintures d’artistes contemporains San à la @galerie_bonne_esperance jusqu’au 26 juin. Premiers habitants de l’Afrique australe, l’histoire des San remonte à plus de 20 000 ans ; ce sont les créateurs de l’art rupestre dans la région. La galerie présente les peintures et gravures de 14 artistes appartenant à un collectif d’artistes San basé dans le désert du Kalahari au Botswana. —— Visit « Dreams of the San”, the first exhibit in Paris of paintings by contemporary San artists at Bonne Espérance Gallery until June 26. The original inhabitants of Southern Africa, San art has a history dating back over 20,000 years; the San are the creators of rock art in Southern Africa. Ilídio Candja Candja rend hommage à Sarah Baartman - également connue sous le nom de “Vénus hottentote” - exhibée pendant la période coloniale comme un objet de curiosité et de spectacle, dont l’histoire reflète la fétichisation du corps des femmes africaines et le racisme endémique ancré dans la science. Il cherche ainsi à défier et à subvertir les récits coloniaux inavoués, en promouvant la redéfinition et la récupération du contrôle sur la représentation du corps, de l’identité et de la mémoire historique et collective.
