PlantWave is a device that uses sensors to read changes in electricity throughout a plant. It graphs those changes as a wave and then translates that wave into musical notes. Here we are listening to the ever-so charming Sensitive Plant. Learn more and get your own device at PlantWave.com 🌿 #weirdplants #forestbathing #explore #plants #plantwave #plantmusic #costarica

As plants photosynthesize, they move chloroplasts around and use water to do so. PlantWave measures the amount of connection between the two points you place on a plant with the device’s sensors. When the connection increases (more water) notes go up. When the connection decreases (less water) notes descend. A PlantWave plant music device works by converting electrical changes in a plant to musical notes. You can make generative music with house plants, trees, mushrooms… and, as demonstrated here, even pumpkins! We can select the instruments, but the pumpkin chooses what notes and melodies are played. Spooky, spectacular, or both? 👻🎃〰️ Get yours at PlantWave.com #plantlover #pumpkin #autumn #fallvibes #spooky #pumpkincarving #plantwave #plantmusic

Nobody wrote this song. It’s simply changes in electricity of a maple leaf being used to control instruments using a PlantWave device. It’s similar to a wind chime. We can select the instruments and the key, but nature decides what note is played next. What plant would you like to listen to? What instruments would you choose? This is not a song. It might sound like a song but it’s actually just instruments being controlled by electrical changes in a plant. It’s similar to wind chimes. Humans can design instruments to be played by the wind but we have no control of the order notes will be struck. Similarly, we can design instruments for plants to play but we don’t know what they’ll do with them until we take the time to listen. When we listen, the variability of the experience mixed with the harmony of the chosen instruments is quite pleasing. That’s PlantWave. Tune into nature. #plantwave #plantmusic #plants #science #plantscience #generativeart #generativedesign #quantum
