Guide to Greenland

Sailing in Greenland hits different 😮‍💨 #kalaallitnunaat #visitgreenland #sailing #greenland

1️⃣What is Greenland? 🇬🇱 Greenland is the biggest island and the second largest ice sheet(Next to Antarctica) in the world.Almost 80% of the land is covered by ice cap.Rest 20% is where the civilization lives in small colonies.Major cities are capital Nuuk,Ilulissat,Kangerlussuaq etc.Nuuk is the only city having a population of more than 5000 people. It is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark. 2️⃣Was Greenland really green? 🌲 Since most of Greenland is covered in ice, snow and glaciers, the Arctic nation is mostly white. Actually an Icelandic murderer who was exiled to the island called it “Greenland” to fool people and attract more settlers. 3️⃣No roads in Greenland 😮 Despite having a land size of 2.16 million square kilometres, there are no roads or railway system that connect settlements to one another. Mode of transportations is limited to air and water. 4️⃣Land of midnight sun ☀️ Every year, the sun does not set from May 25th to July 25th, and it stays visible throughout the entire day. The midnight sun, as it is called, is a pretty cool natural phenomenon that everyone needs to experience at least once in their lifetime.
