A miracle truly orchestrated by God Himself 😭 Colly took her first steps unassisted on September 12, 2023 while at intensive therapy. One of her main therapists called me, squealing with joy, saying, “ANG. SHE NOT ONLY TOOK A COUPLE STEPS. SHE IS WALKING!!!!” I’ve been hesitant to share, because when people hear, “she walked” they automatically jump to, “SHE CAN NOW WALK!” Rett takes away so much and impacts every organ in her body and every skill she has. I’m terrified of claiming that she’s walked in fear of it not progressing or being taken in the near future. But this is so big, so major. She’s worked so hard 😭 A little over a year ago, she couldn’t even pull to stand or bear any weight on her feet. She fights Rett Syndrome every single day…. Through all of the pain she deals with and the obstacles that were unfairly put in her way- she just keeps PUSHING! I also want to say we could not have gotten this far without Colly’s massive therapy team. They are so proactive, so supportive + caring and have been with us every “step” of the way since January 2023. We are so thankful to have them in our corner. I hope this video can inspire someone out there to never give up. When you receive a diagnosis such as this, it can be easy to fall into the depths of despair (I’ve been there 🙋🏼‍♀️ and I honestly still have a lot of dark days) but we have to have hope. Life’s been hard — So hard lately. Through it all I am trying to be grateful for what we DO have and knowing God isn’t done with us yet. I know I have been quieter on here and my DMs are full of are you ok?’s, just checking in’s, and many other kind messages. I am still here! 🫶🏻 I’m just having a difficult time. I really appreciate this community, encouragement, support, and of course, the prayers. I know many of you have been here since Conner was a baby and supported me all thru CQC. It means the world. I wish I had a happier and more uplifting update for you. I will say, I’m gonna work on trying to be more present when I can. This is a post I never thought I’d ever make, let alone the vision I saw for our daughter. On Halloween, Colly was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. While this is a genetic disease, it is from a random gene mutation vs hereditary. It is EXTREMELY rare, almost like winning the most unlucky lottery. When Colly never pulled herself up to stand after her first birthday we started to question our pediatrician more seriously (we had asked prior to this if he thought she had low tone or a weak core) and we kept being told “no, she is super strong and just isn’t standing because she doesn’t want to.” We knew this wasn’t right, but she had been meeting all of her milestones before this: rolling, smiling, sitting, and crawling when she was supposed to. We waited a little more like he wanted and during this time, an amazing follower here told me to Google early intervention in my state. From there we had evaluators who came + assessed Colly, finding she had severe low tone and weak core. We were mad, but finally felt heard. Colly’s team said it was protocol that children with hyptonia be seen by a neurologist to make sure there was nothing else going on, as it can be a symptom of something bigger. The neurologist wasn’t sure by looking at her what she could be facing, but I’ll never forget him saying that he did think “something” was going on. We did a genetic test which yielded a 4 week wait, and then we had our answer that Colly was positive for the MECP2 gene mutation which causes Rett Syndrome. There are many variants of this mutation which can determine how the disorder will affect the child. There are lots scary factors of Rett, but so far we see Colly making progress in therapies and are praying that continues. The few skills she did have at 12-18 months, she has hung on to and has even started babbling again and recently actually pulled herself up to stand!!!!! I’m not sure I’ve ever cried that many happy tears before in my life. This is going to be a journey and a roller coaster of emotions. We will stop at nothing to make sure she can enjoy life and know every single day how loved she is. The cure is on the horizon and I am remaining optimistic. #rettsyndrome

Loved these light fixtures we’ve had in the loft, especially because they aren’t hard wired. However… I hated the cord - so kind of defeated the purpose. I cut the cords and added these battery powered lights and problem solved! 💡 Also added some different battery operated ones to our olive tree to give it a little shine! ✨ Linked both of these on blog and LTK tonight (in profile)!

My kids’ birthdays have ALWAYS been emotional for me. I cry every year on the day that they turn a year older. That reality hits so much harder with Colly, and the fragility of her life. The “bittersweet” of a new year: what it symbolizes and how time moves on for others, but it really doesn’t for Colly. I’m really trying to still be grateful, even through all of the hard. I just wish things were easier for her. I have to keep trusting that God’s plan is so much bigger and better than mine.
