Turning the Tide: Re-igniting an economic awakening to restore the pride and prosperity of the coastal fisherfolk through transformative blue economy initiatives.

Kenya is uniquely positioned for thriving mining investments, boasting a government that prioritizes global business standards, exceptional maritime connectivity, abundant mineral deposits and a skilled workforce.

Today, we hosted the Kenya Investment Forum on the sidelines of the Africa Down Under Conference. The forum brought together Australian companies from across the mining value chain and beyond, all keen on exploring opportunities in Kenya. In my remarks, I reaffirmed the Government of Kenya’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investment , one anchored on transparency, sustainability, and mutual benefit. Our vision is to build partnerships that go beyond resource extraction, with a focus on developing strong local value chains that unlock the full potential of our natural endowments, create jobs, and open opportunities for our people. Kenya welcomes global partners who share our values of responsibility, sustainability, and shared prosperity, as we work together to drive inclusive growth and long-term transformation.

Today, I had the privilege of engaging with potential investors in the mining, energy, blue economy and maritime sectors who have expressed keen interest in investing in Kenya. Kenya’s priority is to attract investments that drive inclusive growth, empower local communities, and ensure lasting benefits for our people. Our focus on innovation and capacity building ensures that every partnership contributes to the socio-economic transformation of our country. I was joined in these discussions by H.E. Wilson Kogo, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Australia, PS Harry Kimtai (Mining), PS Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy & Fisheries), PS Abubakar Hassan (Investment), and PS John Ololtua (Tourism).

Kenya participated in the ongoing Africa Down Under (ADU) 2025 Conference in Perth, Australia where in my my keynote address, I underscored Kenya’s commitment to responsible and sustainable mining anchored in transparency and community benefit. I highlighted Kenya’s rich mineral potential and invited global investors to explore partnerships that unlock opportunities for mutual growth. I also assured potential investors in the mining sector of Kenya’s full support, reaffirming our commitment to building strong partnerships that promise win–win outcomes for investors and the people of Kenya. Thereafter, I held fruitful discussions with Prof. David Mickler and Dr. Chris Langat from Curtin University, where we explored capacity-building partnerships for Kenyan and Australian students in the mining and blue economy sectors. Our talks further touched on areas of mutual benefit that will generate impactful outcomes during the upcoming Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Conference in November that will be hosted in Mombasa County. Accompanying me were the Kenya High Commissioner to Australia, H.E. Dr. Wilson Kogo, together with Principal Secretaries Harry Kimtai (Mining), Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy & Fisheries), Abubakar Hassan Abubakar (Investments) and John Ololtua (Tourism).

I was privileged to join the president H.E Dr. @williamsamoeiruto and H.E @kagutamuseveni the president of Uganda in a bilateral meeting today at @state.house.kenya. The discussions centered on collaborations between Kenya and Uganda in various sectors of mutual interest. In the same forum, I was honored to sign on behalf of the Government of Kenya two bilateral documents on cooperation in the minerals sector and fisheries development. Uganda is a key partner in these sectors.
