I missed the anniversary by a day, but when the month of May rolls around, my thoughts are often filled with Mt. St. Helens’s catastrophic eruption. I wasn’t born until 10 years after the fact, but I’ve been fascinated by volcanoes since I can remember. I cannot fathom what it must have been like seeing this gorgeous volcano erupt, destroying so much without pause. Standing here watching the Milky Way erupt out of her crater felt beautifully and painfully symbolic, giving me a little glimpse into what it must have looked like 42 years ago.

Happy Moonday! 🌝 I’ve been back up in the PNW working, and in true Washington fashion, I didn’t see the sky last night. 😭 So here’s a total lunar eclipse comp from last year! Were you able to see/photograph the eclipse?

Happy Moonday! 🌝 Anyone planning to catch the total lunar eclipse this week? I’m hoping that I won’t get clouded out again, but the weather isn’t looking promising so far 😅 Where are you planning to see it?

Happy Mother’s Day! 🥰 I hope you have an amazing day! 🐾 P.S. Can’t wait to see these fuzzy mommas this week!

That time I saw my life flash before my eyes when I was eating breakfast and a mama grizzly and her cub wandered toward me in the most remote national park in the US. I took this wide shot just before breakfast with my @sonyalpha a7R III and 24-70mm. I remember after the adrenaline of the bear encounter wore off, I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t have my 100-400mm on, but I recognized pretty quickly that there was absolutely no way that I would have been able to take a steady shot with my trembling body as they ran off 😂 I love this shot for both the calm and anxiety that it produces in me now. 😅 I’m just happy that I had my camera with me at all to capture this beautiful, albeit frantic, morning. #SonyPartner #AlphaCollective

Feeling a lot of emotions today. Just here to say that if you’re feeling similarly, you aren’t alone.

Happy Moonday! 🌙 My life isn’t always hiking a beautiful mountain or sleeping under the stars. Sometimes it’s breaking down next to my bed while putting laundry away. Sometimes it’s struggling to get out of bed to face the day. Sometimes it’s avoiding all human contact because it feels too exhausting to communicate. One thing is for sure, the more time spent outdoors, the happier I am. Surrounding myself with nature calms my mind, and I feel so lucky to have so much nature in my life. 🙂 I hope you get to spend some time outside this week!

One of my favorite parts about visiting a new national park 🥰 #nationalpark #nationalparks #ranger #alaska #montana #glacier #kenaifjords #denali #hiking #getoutside #nationalparkgeek #nationalparkservice #exploremore #travel #explore #hellofrom #earthfocus #ourplanetdaily #earth #earthofficial

It’s been a little while. Life has been quite busy in the best possible way lately. I took my first Wilderness First Responder course, which was absolutely fantastic, and have been getting to spend some quality time with my BFF, who I haven’t been able to see since pre-pandemic life. It’s been nice putting social media on the back burner for a bit, but I’m just popping in to say hi, I’m still alive 👋🏼😄

The creatures on our planet are so incredible. It still blows my mind just how magnificent our home is, in every single way, and I can’t understand not wanting to fight for it. #AlphaCollective #BeAlpha @sonyalpha a7R III + Sony 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM
