After the Agape Family Care team conducted a Needs Assessment on the current AFC tertiary scholarship beneficiaries, they managed to identify those that needed more assistance apart from tuition fees. These targeted beneficiaries became the recipients of 8 laptops courtesy of Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa. For over a decade, this institution has had a good relationship with Agape Family Care under its Institutions Support Program. “The relationship between Tanyaradzwa Children’s Home and Agape Family Care started way back in 2010.” Said Pastor R. Nyadembera from Agape Family Care. And over the years, Ruth Emmanuel Makandiwa has made numerous donations to Tanyaradzwa Children’s Home in the form of food aid, scholarships, construction of blocks, project support and sanitation. In celebrating her birthday, on the 7th of September 2023, she assigned the AFC Team again to go Tanyaradzwa, this time with a huge donation that will transform the operations and sustenance of the institution. Bringing to life this year theme for the International Day of the Girl Child ‘Digital Generation: Our Generation’ (which was focusing on girls living in Eastern and Southern Africa) Agape Family Care and Shamwari YeMwanasikana created a platform for over 40 young girls for them to get inspiring and educative digital experience at the Ster Kinekor Studios in Sam Levy’s Village, Borrowdale. A first-time experience for over 95% of the girls, they were given a full cinematic experience, courtesy of Ster Kinekor. Each of the girls received popcorn and juice, and they enjoyed watching a 2-hour movie, which was inspiring, touching and informative on the dangers of human trafficking, which mostly targets children and girls. “We want to thank Agape Family Care. They have always been supporting us.” Said one of the Patrons of Shamwari YeMwanasikana. This special celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child was set to give confidence and exposure to these young girls so that they do not fall victim to sexual exploitation. The young girls who participated were part of the flagships under Shamwari YeMwanasikana Foundation, that are operating as clubs in schools. As it is her custom every year, Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa celebrated her birthday with Homefield Centre by extending the love of God to them, to help in the smooth running of the institution and the care of residents. The donation comprised of a huge grocery hamper that had tons of maize meal as well as multiple Cartons of Cooking oil, Sugar, Flour, Rice, Sugar beans, Juice, Bananas, Salt, Peanut butter, Tea bags, Spaghetti, Milk powder, Toothpaste, Bath soap, Vaseline and Toilet paper. Other items included a 25L Tea urn, bath towels, Blankets, Sanitary wear and Dignity kits (for the ladies). On top of this, she also donated a Grinding Mill to the institution that they can start as an income-generating project. Homefield currently has 69 residents with a staff complement of 32 workers. “We want to thank Mom Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa for this donation. It means a lot us, since we have about 32 social welfare cases, which means those residents who do not have parents to pay fees for them and rely on social welfare.” Mrs Musole Ndhlovu, the Administrator of Homefields said. Highlighting some of the challenges they are facing as an institution, she mentioned that this donation will go a long way in providing a balanced diet for the residents. “The grinding mill will help us to generate funds for the Centre.” She said. The 15th of September 2023 was a special day for Homefield Centre, which was established in 1964 to cater for the care and education of intellectually challenged individuals. With hand-held flower reeds in their hands, a welcome party made up of the residents received the AFC delegation at the gate, and escorted them, expressing their joy and excitement through songs and the waving of their hand-held flower reeds, which signified peace, love and appreciation. They were overwhelmed by the gesture of love they received from Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa, through the AFC Institutions Support Program.

Agape Family Care launched a campaign to inform and sensitize vulnerable individuals about their social rights. Due to various factors many individuals find themselves facing distinct disadvantages; due to their vulnerability or owing to tradition making them victims of violations. As a result, they require special protection for the equal and effective enjoyment of their human rights. These groups that are often discriminated and have difficulties defending themselves include: Women, Girls, Orphaned Children, Disabled persons, Widows and Elderly persons. On the 14th of August 2023 Agape Family Care with the aid of the UFIC Legal Department organized an Open Day where Members of the Legal Department consulted with the members of the church and gave free legal advice and guidance on various legal issues affecting those who attended the Open Day. Clearance to hold the open day was given by the Law Society of Zimbabwe. A total of 10 legal practitioners attended to several people who had various legal issues which they needed guidance and assistance on. All the people had an opportunity to consult one on one with the lawyers. The people had their issues vetted first and then referred to the lawyer/s with the necessary expertise on the matters in issue. RUSAPE INSTITUTIONAL DONATION Chitenderano Children’s Home On the 4th of August 2023, Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa sent the Agape Family Care Team on a special assignment to Chitenderano Children’s Home, 35 kilometres from Rusape Town Centre. Just like a fortress, tucked in the high, mountainous terrains of the Eastern Highlands, this place is called home by a special group of 30 children, the youngest in Grade 0 and the eldest in Lower Six. Although it is in a rural setting, the peace and the calm in the area provides a good environment for this institution to offer care for the children that are housed there. “Mauya KuChitenderano” translated to “Welcome to Chitenderano”, was the song that the children sang as they welcomed the AFC Team, with bright and cheerful faces. Chitenderano Children’s Home was built by the founders of United Christian Crusade International Church (UCCI) in the late 1980’s to be a place of refuge and care for orphaned children. And over the years, Chitenderano has been doing this, in the best way it can care for children assigned to it by the Ministry Social Welfare and Child Protection Services, even though they have been encountering a few challenges in the running of their institution. Upon hearing their plight, Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa, through Agape Family Care, was moved by the love of God to extend a special hand of charity to this institution that plays a very special role in the community. She sent the AFC Team with a donation of 2 x 200 litre Gravity Solar Geysers for the institution, together with 20 new mattresses, 30 blankets, bath towels, sanitary ware and dignity kits for the girls. This donation also came with a bountiful food hamper that included 110 x10 kg maize meal, cases of cooking oil, cases of sugar, cases of rice, cases of flour, cases of sugar beans, tea bags, powdered milk, laundry bars, bathing soap, exercise books and covers, kitchenware, baby diapers, popcorn and drinking juice for the young ones.
