Had the great pleasure of lending a hand to @sailing_emilie crossing from the Azores to Scotland. Two weeks of beating into headwinds, a bit of a rocky ride but splendidly marvellous all the same! Fair (reaching) winds to Kristina/Thomas & co for the rest of the journey home! @magnumphotos

Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin, anno 2022. It would have been pretty interesting to timetravel back and present this image to the average Berliner or Soviet citizen in 1982 and have them guess the sequence of events that led to this setup. @magnumphotos

@jonasbendiksen’s photograph is from ‘The Book of Veles’, his exploration of the North Macedonian town of Veles that mixes fake news and documentary photography with ancient Slavic mythology. Through this project, Bendiksen seeks to pose critical questions about photography, trust and the representation of reality. Buy a signed, archival-quality 6x6” print by Jonas Bendiksen at the link in bio.

Important message regarding current Magnum square print sale. Link in bio.

This image from The Book of Veles is part of the new @magnumphotos $100 square print sale! “I drove around the tired streets of Veles. Run-down neighborhoods, empty shops, and abandoned factories dominated the skyline. How could this place be so lifeless, I thought, nothing could be salvaged from this place; this junk food town, this fake news town.” – excerpt from GPT-2, the AI text generator which wrote the main essay in The Book of Veles Link in my bio. The Book of Veles was an experiment using computer-generated synthetic photography and text to tell the story about how Veles became a hub for the production of fake news in 2016. 75th Anniversary Sale - Part Two: Now Monday, October 17, 09:00 AM EST to Sunday, October 23, 11:59 PM EST More than 120 signed or estate-stamped, museum-quality 6x6” prints by Magnum photographers and The Photographers’ Gallery for £100/€120/ $100+tax. Since I don’t have any pictures of my upcoming lecture at @deichmanbjorvika on Thursday yet, i had to get the AI image generator Midjourney to make some for me, based on the prompt "male photographer on a podium delivering a lecture to huge crowd of enthusiastic fans, in a modern auditorium". So thanks everyone for the great turnout, really appreciate it!! You were/will be a great crowd! I do hope to replicate this in real life though, so if you are in Oslo on thursday 22/9 six oclock please join me there! I will be talking about The Book of Veles, and all these technologies. @gost_books @magnumphotos

A few details from my recent trip to the islands of Shinan county, Korea. @magnumphotos

Returning home after two weeks on a lovely @magnumphotos comission in beautiful Shinan county, Korea, where I got to combine two of my big passions: photography and sailing. A great way to see this coastal region, hang out with fishermen and visit small villages on far-flung islands.
