4 MONTHS OLD, + LOOK HOW WE’VE GROWN... It’s been four months to the day since we opened the doors of M + J. Just the two of us, + our lovely clients... Today, with the addition of two others, we reflected on how far we’ve come in such a short space of time. WOMEN OF WORTH. PLEASE READ... Check out these awesome T-shirts designed by local artist Josh Gallion. Josh wanted to raise funds for a charity close to the hearts of him + his lovely mum. The Esther Project, a local group for vulnerable women, part of Helping Hands Community Project. The Esther group receives around 10 new referrals a week through the charity’s House2Home Project and up to 10-15 new direct referrals a month from other agencies (Refuge/Police/Probation/local council). The ladies attending the Esther group are offered the opportunity to volunteer in the charity’s shop, café or warehouse, to study for qualifications, are offered counselling, housing, childcare, as well as health and relationship issues support. Drop-in sessions provide lunch and refreshments as well as running weekly activities, such as cooking, arts/crafts, day trips out, equine therapy, film afternoons and pamper days. Many of the ladies receiving support have suffered different types of trauma and benefit greatly from the groups support. His T-shirts (modelled by your boys in pink) are based on the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the method of repairing a broken object by enhancing its scars with real gold, instead of trying to hide them. The design highlights the women’s journey, they may be scarred and might feel broken but with the help of Esther + the funds raised by Josh’s cool tee’s, they are now on their journey to be mended… WHAT A MESSAGE?! 💗 The t-shirts are available at Helping Hands Community Project headquarters in Leamington Spa (contact Lianne Kirkman [email protected]) as well as 1 Mill Street, co working space in Leamington Spa where Josh’s design will be displayed in their “Social Impact” section near the café area.
