I started 2022 with double Champagne!🎉🍾🍾 For Champagne, 2008 is a legendary vintage. After the 2007 icy winter, the chilly spring and damp summer that followed made for a poor growing season in Champagne, until conditions did an about-turn. Suddenly, the weather was delivering bright, dry, sunny days which helped push the grapes towards phenolic ripeness despite temperatures being lower than normal. The cooler growing season also allowed grapes to ripen slowly preserving much-needed acidity. The successful harvest and the resulting wines were fresh and refined with rich, ripe fruit and balanced acidity.💫 Champagne Laurent-Perrier Brut Millesime 🍾 Laurent-Perrier choose to make vintages rarely, the 2008 vintage is fast emerging as one of their best since the legendary 2002. @champagnelaurentperrier 🌟 A poised blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that came from 100% Grand Crus in the Cote des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Aged eight years in the lees with 8g/l dosage. The light golden colour fine bubbles, unwind in the glass. The elegant fruit aromas with both mineral and chalky notes, lead to a lively palate with a deep, complex and satisfying finish.💫 I wish you all a wonderful year, may 2022 be a good one! 🙌 Cheers!🥂 . #laurentperrier #champagne2008 #familytime #newyear2022 #champagne #millésime #chosenbythebest #theperfectmoment #champagnelife #champagnemoments #champagnelovers #newyearresolutions #happynewyear2022 #2022goals #dipwset #wine #wineoclocktips #instawine #winelife #champagnelover #vintagechampagne #wineblogger #enjoywine #finewine #sparklingwine #prestigecuvee #香槟 #元旦

'Tis the Season to Sparkle! 🍾🥂 'ONE OF THE RARE "CLOS" IN CHAMPAGNE, THE JEWEL OF OUR HOUSE' - Jean-Michel Gremillet gave the name "Clos Rocher" to this champagne to make his childhood dream come true. The Clos Rocher vineyard is situated on the finest Riceys terroir with an ideal southwest aspect in the heart of the Côte des Bar. It's a 1.4-hectare site exclusively planted with pinot noir @champagnegremillet 🌟 Inside the Clos is a beautiful cadole (the shelter for winegrowers in the olden days), overlooking the vineyards. This haven of peace and pleasantness is the perfect place to taste their cuvée prestige while watching the birds and bees fly by with the sun or stars💫 As the most precious family's treasure, this cuvée is the epitome of their expertise. The Clos Rocher is a 2013 vintage (the first) of the best grape selection from a single-estate picked at full maturity. This pure, elegant and fresh bubbly is composed exclusively of the first press cuvée, and aged for a minimum of seven years on the lees, finished with 7 gr/l dosage. Its crisp palate delivers intense fruit flavours of red apple, grapefruit, raspberry, with toasty and nutty notes and a velvety persistence developing a hint of saline on the finish🍾 Thank you to @champagnegremillet; it's a pure delight!💕 I hope you all are spending precious time with your loved ones during the holidays!❤️ Here's to a Happy 2022! Do you enjoy Sake? 🍶 Here’s a wonderful ‘Sake Discovery Box’ with three award-winning Japanese Sakes, selected by @sorakami_uk, in partnership with the Kikuchi Sake Brewing Company based in Okayama, Japan🎁🎄 Sanzen Tokubetsu Junmai Omachi – beautifully perfumed aromas and velvety texture with a crisp spice and savoury palate. Kiseki No Osake Junmai Ginjo Omachi – robust fruity aroma of pear and saline notes with a hint of vanilla and aniseed flavours. Sanzen Junmai Daiginjo – aromas of grapefruit, mandarin and pomelo, with floral notes; a rounded, textured and complex dry finish. But, what is Sake? Sake is not a wine, beer or spirit. In fact, Sake is so unique; it belongs in its very own category.🤔 So, what is Sake made of? Sake refers to the national Japanese alcoholic beverage made from rice, water, koji and yeast. Sake is fermented, not distilled, with an average alcohol content of 16%. In the Japanese language, Sake refers to any alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, whisky, etc.). So, Sake means “alcohol”. If a Japanese friend says, “Let’s drink sake,” it simply means, “Let’s have a drink.” Only outside of Japan does Sake refer to Japan’s national alcoholic beverage, which Japanese people love so much.💫 What do the Japanese people call it then? Nihonshu, which means Japanese alcohol. ‘Nihon’ is Japan, and ‘shu’ is alcohol. If you’re in a Japanese restaurant and want to drink Sake, you should ask for the Nihonshu Menu.🍶 Thank you to @sorakami_uk for these delicious Sakes; I want to learn more about Sake now! 🤩 I think it’s a great box for anyone interested in tasting, for a gift, or simply to enjoy. To grab yours, go to www.sorakami.co.uk Merry Christmas🎄💕🥂 #sake #sanzen #sorakami #kikuchi #okayama #christmasgift #sushi #sashimi #takayama #food #drink #londonfoodie #foodanddrinks #saketasting #sakelover #japanesesake #premiumsake #nature #photography #enjoymoments

Interesting Stories Behind the Labels @marisco_wines 💫 The Marisco Vineyards is a family-owned wine producer built on three generations of winemaking experience in the Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand. The owner Brent Marris looked to his family history for inspiration while making The King's Series. Among his ancestry, around the 13th century, was a notorious chap, William de Marisco, who engaged in a tempestuous relationship with the English monarchy of the time. Each wine in The King's Series tells the story of a moment in Marisco's scandalous life. Elegant and complex, The King's Legacy Chardonnay has been in oak for 10 months with regular stirring of the lees, it’s delicate stone fruits flavour and nuances of nougat with spicy, juicy acidity and saline finish. Marisco is said to be one of 35 illegitimate children of King Henry I. Possibly, the most notorious member of offspring – The King's Legacy – the inspiration behind this wine. A punchy nose of pure fruit with a textured palate, The King's Favour Sauvignon Blanc carries a herbaceous freshness, which's a characteristic synonymous with Waihopai Valley acidity. In 1204, despite using Lundy Island, off the south coast of England, as a base for piracy, Marisco was bizarrely appointed to oversee a number of the Royal Galleys whose purpose was to defend against such piracy. He was also granted the Manor of Braunton – The King's Favour. Dark spiced fruits with attractive floral notes and a subtle hint of the forest floor, The King’s Wrath Pinot Noir, is using strains of Burgundian yeast and aged in French oak (55% new) for 11 months. In 1242, Marisco was implicated in an assassination attempt on King Henry III. Found guilty of high treason, William was sentenced to death by 'quartering'. Following his execution, the four parts of his body were sent to the four corners of the kingdom – a grisly example of The King's Wrath. Great wines - amazing stories🍷 Available from @majesticwine #newzealandwines #mariscos #marlborough #wines

Sauvignon Blanc lovers, turn your attention to Chile! 🙌 @winesofchile_uk @drinkchile @winesofchile With incredible mountain and coastal terroirs, boasting an exciting array of styles, there’s a whole new world of Sauvignon Blanc to discover in Chile. From fresh and fruity to zesty, cool-climate wines at outstanding value🍷 There are 870 miles of Chilean vineyards extending from north to south. When marine breezes from the Pacific Ocean collide with mountain winds from the Andes, a unique and beneficial cool climate is created in Chile’s coastal wine regions. These climactic factors, as well as diverse soils washed down from the Andes, combine to create Sauvignon Blanc wines with a signature fresh acidity and vibrant citrussy flavours. No surprise it’s the leading grape, with 42% of total white grape plantings 🍇 Spotlight on Chile’s finest Sauvignon Blanc appellations Leyda Valley and Casablanca Valley:🗺 D.O. Leyda Valley! Small sub-region of San Antonio, found on the Pacific coast. Ocean influences create fresh, vibrant and expressive Sauvignon Blanc wines. Poor granitic and alluvial soils produce low yields of concentrated fruit for highly-aromatic whites. D.O. Casablanca Valley! A trailblazing cool-climate, and wind-producing, region of Chile. Morning fogs from the Pacific Ocean settle in the valley and ancient, granite-clay soils create a rich tapestry of terroir. Sauvignon Blancs from here are famously vibrant and textured, with a marked minerality. 🍷In my glass, Tributo Sauvignon Blanc 2020 - Santo Tomás Vineyard, Casablanca Valley is produced by Caliterra wines founded in 1996 as a joint venture between the families of Robert Mondavi and Viña Errazuriz. @caliterrawines 🌟 This wine shows excellent intense aromas of grapefruit, apricot, acacia flower, and lychees, to later give rise to flinty saline notes, a typical aroma that comes from areas near the sea. It has vibrant textures with crispy acidity and complex exotic fruit flavours. A delightful pairing with spicy or hearty dishes, it also enhances delicate flavours💫

Holiday Essentials 🍷 From Christmas Dinner to New Year canapés, small gatherings with friends and families. Here are some wines I choose to pair with the festive foods💫 Holiday season is not just a mix of cuisines, but also of personalities, moods and tastes. We all need wines with crowd-pleaser qualities, not too divisive, yet unarguably delicious. Have a bold red on hand for tannin lovers, as well as an elegant white or rosé for more delicate palates. With this in mind, the Bodegas Protos has selected its Holiday Essentials to light up your table and impress your guests❤️ Bodegas Protos was founded in 1927; it was the first commercial winery to be established in Ribera del Duero. This modern winery, designed by UK architect Sir Richard Rogers, has become a landmark of the region. @protoswines 🌟 Today, Bodegas Protos continues to make its signature Tempranillo wines in D.O. Ribera del Duero, alongside award-winning Verdejo wines at its winery in D.O. Rueda and, most recently, contemporary rosé wines in D.O. Cigales💫 Aire de Protos rosé has aromas of fresh red and white fruits, with subtle peach and floral notes. A blend of red and white Spanish grape varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Verdejo and Albillo. Delicious with canapés like salmon blinis and bruschetta, or sweet treats like Christmas cake. Protos Verdejo is an award-winning white wine, and famous for its citrusy freshness, with layers of tropical fruits, green apple and aromatic herbs. This refreshing white can be a staple of the festive season, from party nibbles to turkey and all the trimmings. Verdejo’s vibrant acidity and fuller body from lees-ageing, can handle the whole menu of festive foods. With highly aromatic, balancing structure and freshness, Protos Crianza is full of mature forest fruits, sweet spice and toasted notes thanks to 12 months spent in oak barriques. Delicious with festive feasts of roasted meat, as well as charcuterie boards. ‘Tis the Season for Tempranillo🍷 @firstpourdrinks 🥂   . #protoswines #bodegasprotos #protos #christmas #holidays #gathering #foodandwine #wine #food #instawine #finewine #firstpourdrinks

Raising a glass to De Bortoli 17 TREES Plant-A-Tree initiative has hit the milestone of planting 50,000 globally since it launched in 2020. Going Green: The path to a zero-waste winery @debortoliwines 🌲🍷 De Bortoli is a third-generation family winemaker. It’s always a good idea to have some great wines on-hand throughout the festive season. You never know when someone might pop by to share some Christmas cheer, whatever the occasion, here’re two excellent and definitely crowd-pleasing wines I have when hosting over the festive season🎄   The newly released, 2020 Viña Leyda Reserva Pinot Noir and Single Vineyard Garuma Sauvignon Blanc, from the most awarded coastal winery of Chile - Viña Leyda, nestled deep in the D.O Leyda Valley, only four kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. The combination of foggy mornings, cool breezes and bright afternoon sunshine, allow the grape flavours to ripen fully while retaining natural acidity. Since 1998, Viña Leyda has focused on creating cool coastal climate wines. Today, Viña Leyda is internationally recognised as a boutique winery, renowned for producing the finest Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc in Chile. Viviana Navarrete, Viña Leyda’s chief winemaker, is an expert in cool coastal varieties and acknowledged as Winemaker of the Year 2020 by leading critic, Tim Atkin MW @leydawines 🌟 This Garuma Sauvignon Blanc shows an intense aromatic, mineral edge with herbaceous notes, complemented with a creamy texture palate, ends with pronounced juicy acidity.   This Reserva Pinot Noir is an elegant yet rich intense expression of ripe red fruits, a soft spicy note with earthy hints. It has a fresh, vibrant acidity, silky tannin and rounded mouthfeel finish.   The zesty Sauvignon Blanc and pure Pinot Noir will be excellent choice for the holidays’ gatherings and festive feasts. Serve them with party canapés that are guaranteed to bring out the fruity complexity of each grape variety. This Christmas, reach for Rioja🍷🎄 When it comes to Christmas, getting the wine pairing right is paramount. The wine needs to be versatile, yet distinctive – with plenty of character to make for a truly memorable meal! Rioja is renowned for its oak-aged red wines, and one of only two regions in Spain to be granted top-level DOCa status. The undisputed kings of this category are the premium Gran Reservas, which are aged for a minimum of five years, including at least two years in oak barrels ⏳ Did you know that 30% of DOCa Rioja Gran Reserva sold is Faustino I? 🌟 @faustinobodegas The 2010 vintage – a year ranked as ‘Excellent’ (the highest ranking) by Rioja DOCa. This wine is made from three classic Rioja grape varieties Tempranillo (85%), Graciano (10%) and Mazuelo (5%). Graciano provides a lively colour and high acidity; Mazuelo’s abundant tannin, together with Tempranillo are the perfect blend for long ageing wines. True to Rioja; true to its origins 🍇 This classic Rioja offers an excellent acidity and structure, with layers of mature berry fruits and sweet spice; the complexity of savoury, smoky and nutty notes, finessed flavours and rounded, well-integrated tannins that can carry through to the Christmas pudding. I really enjoyed this Rioja with a lighter, more refreshing style🍷 Bodegas Faustino was founded in 1861 by the Martínez Zabala family. Today it is run by the fourth generation. Faustino has over 650 hectares of vineyards mostly in high altitude areas of Rioja Alavesa, and is famous for their elegant and consistent style, with precise use of oak. The spectacular winery in Rioja Alavesa can hold up to 60,000 oak barrels! The first Faustino I Gran Reserva was created in 1958 by Don Julio Faustino Martínez (3rd generation). A portrait by Rembrandt became the face of the wine, and sixty years on it was become an icon of its own💫 This outstanding wine is available at: @tescofood @asda @costco_uk @costco and @ocadouk Will you be having Rioja this Christmas?🎄🍷 . #inthenameofwine #FaustinoMoment #BodegasFaustino #FaustinoI #Faustino #rioja #granreserva #vinho #spain #christmas

Argentinian flagship Malbec is one of the great wine success stories of the past couple of decades. The wine is loved for its juicy, plush, full-bodied black fruit flavours, as well as for its pairing with a wide variety of foods – particularly steak and other red meats💫   Graffigna was founded in 1870, by Santiago Graffigna, a passionate Italian whose entrepreneurial vision and spirit led him to plant the areas first vineyards. Graffigna is the third oldest winery in Argentina. It has retained its unique winemaking philosophy, crafting bold wines that convey a 150-year history of excellence🌟 @graffignawine   Graffigna is currently focused on one vineyard location: the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The highest quality grapes are selected according to each harvest to achieve the best wines. The aim is to produce the best quality, quantity, diversity of fruit, and wines with a lower level of alcohol. The Graffigna team, led by innovative chief winemaker Fernando Mengoni, is experimenting with fresher style, less toasted oak, and higher sucrosity. This fine tuning will allow the character and attributes of the broad portfolio of world-class wines to stand out ✨   This Graffigna’s Genuine Collection Reserve Malbec is elegant and intense, packed with juicy flavours of plums and blackberries, complemented with freshness, toasty and peppery notes; it’s full mouthfeel, with a chocolatey finish🍷   Malbec my way – roast chicken and crispy potatoes, caramelised carrots with a bean and pea medley, serve with chicken gravy😋   This wine is now available @sainsburys 📍   Fantastic value, highly recommended!
