“It’s a RoW factory PTS Aetna Blue GT3 RS” according to the owner. Spotted at @rennsportreunion by a loyal reader - and his BS meter was instantly activated, and rightly so. First off, to our knowledge, Porsche NEVER made a single PTS 997.1 RS. Maybe the Sultan of Brunei has four that we don’t know about though. Second, the plate comes back to a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. Hmm… Third, the VIN is a North American format, not a RoW WP0ZZZ, and the tenth digit “A” would indicate that it’s a 2010, and therefore a 997.2. Thanks to our contact at Porsche, we verified that the VIN does indeed belong to a 2010 GT3 from Mexico delivered in Guards Red. The word “dubious” is a perfect description of both the owner’s claims and the vehicle’s legality, and any law enforcement hanging around said event may be interested in further inquiries. There might be a legitimate explanation for all of this, but it’s highly unlikely. We'll admit right off the bat that saying an interior and exterior color combination is one-of-one is bordering on "Corvette Rare" - the phenomenon whereby every Corvette owner's car is somehow rare. However, there is a marked difference. Between 2004 and 2005, over 71,000 Corvettes were made, while just 1018 996 GT3s were brought to North America. We're already in the rare spectrum. Of those 1018, only 68 had non-black interior, just 21 had Natural Brown Leather, and only 22 cars were made in Atlas Grey. This is the ONLY one with Atlas Grey and Natural Brown leather. Adding to its uniqueness, it is one of the 166 GT3s produced in 2005. This one also boasts PCCBs, Maritime Blue seatbelts, painted-back Sport Seats, and more. The car is completely original paint, and is protected by a clearbra on the entire front end. It has zero overrevs in range two. The car is stock and original except for 993 RS motor mounts and Cup rear toe links. It has been meticulously maintained, and was purchased by the third owner in 2014 with just under 9k miles. It has not seen the track, and has remained in his care until listed and sold via GTvault in 2021. Service in 2021 included brake flush and oil change, new hood struts, plus new Michelin Pilot Sport N4 tires and an alignment. It has been driven a scant 2k miles since then, and currently rests at 20,052 miles. Condition is excellent, with flaws limited to minor wear/marks on the interior black coated pieces, including the center console, air vent surrounds, and sill kick panels. The blue gauge faces are slightly misaligned, which we've seen before on 996s and is a known issue. It has not seen inclement weather, and the underside is clean. There's a common scam to watch out for with salvage cars - and it's not what you think. 2011 GT3 RS #3564 is clearly listed on Carfax as a salvage title, so nobody should get hoodwinked on a purchase in today's time, even though it has been fixed up and used on the street in Europe for quite a while. However, there's more to the story. The photos above represent two separate salvage auctions in 2014. The first photo is in April of 2014, and represents the true extent of the damage. The second photo is a salvage auction in June of 2014, with the body hastily hammered out, new front and rear glass installed, the rear wing, umm, "fixed", and some other body trim like mirrors and taillights installed to minimize the appearance of damage. This is a very common trick amongst salvage auctions and dealers, where someone will buy a wrecked car, put some lipstick on it, and then re-run it at a salvage auction claiming far less damage and thereby giving bidders a false sense of security that they are buying a car with minor damage. "An easy fix!". These photos are then often passed on to a retail buyer, again in an effort to show how little damage was sustained, or to feign transparency to make the buyer feel better. That is not to say that there aren't cars out there with superficial damage which receive salvage titles that can be a great deal, but it IS to say that buyers need to be VERY careful when venturing down the road of rebuilt cars. The last photos are present-day, showing the car fully rebuilt and on the road in Europe, where it is now for sale again at an asking price of USD $175k. I wonder if the buyers in Europe know enough to check the US history to confirm that it's a rebuilt title - which brings us to another common scam: Exporters sending wrecked or high-mileage cars to other countries and resetting the odometers and/or rebuilding the cars and selling them as clean title/low mileage in other countries. We don't recommend that anyone trust Carfax reports blindly as they are fraught with errors, but in cases like this, it's at least good to have the big red flag of "TOTAL LOSS" to warn future buyers. #gt3rs #997rs #997gt3 #911gt3rs #911gt3

GT3 RS 4.0 #5596 is number 257 of 600 produced worldwide. Of the 159 four-litres brought to North America, this is one of 43 in Carrara White with all-black interior. It was sold new by @porsche_silverspring and made its way to Louisiana (albeit titled in Montana) where it remained until 2014. Regular service was performed by Brian Harris Porsche and it was sold by @nolasport in 2014 with 7200 miles. The first owner went by forum handle "Glock Guru" and the car was known online as the "RSS Project Gumbo" car. He shipped it to RSS for their suspension treatment, slotted brake rotors, RSS X-pipe, harness bar, harnesses, Recaro seats, and extensive Xpel Ultimate PPF coverage. The second owner purchased it from Nolasport in 2014 and had it reverted back to stock other than the center muffler and black powdercoated wing uprights. The first two owners drove it primarily as a street car but also enjoyed it on the track and maintained the car well. This 997.1 GT3 is one of just 42 North American examples produced in Meteor Grey. It is no stranger to GTvault as this is the third time we've featured this particular car! While it remained with the same owner from 2012-2018, it has found three different private homes since then, a phenomenon that is common with Porsche GT cars. The original owner sent it to Sharkwerks for some minor upgrades before he sold it in 2011 with 9k miles to the second owner in NY, an automotive enthusiast whose cars are of the highest caliber, regardless of dollar value. He added RSS adjustable rear links. It was sold to Switchcars in 2012 with 11k miles and sold to a local Porsche enthusiast/collector who cares for his cars unlike almost anyone we've seen. He refuses to put them away dirty, and washes them immediately after driving in the rain, if they ever get driven in the rain at all. He maintained the car to a very high standard, and the TPMS were replaced under warranty in 2013. It wasn't until 2018, when his 991.2 manual GT3 arrived, that he finally parted with the car, and it went to Massachusetts via Switchcars, now with 15k miles, and still one of the cleanest examples in the market. The car received a 2-year service in 2018, and was listed on GTvault in 2021 and sold once again via Switchcars to a client in Alabama. He turned around and sold it almost immediately to invest in a real estate opportunity, and it went from Motorcars of Atlanta (where it received an annual service and a new battery) to HBI Automotive before finding a new private home. New Michelin Pilot 4S tires and a new water pump were installed in June of 2022 at HBI for the new owner. Current upgrades: RS clutch/flywheel, carbon door entry guards, RSS rear links (OEM included), Sharkwerks center muffler bypass with Fabspeed CF tips (OEM included), and a Tranzit Bluetooth system with hidden installation. GT3 RS #3262 was delivered new through Champion Porsche to Mr. Minkin, who sold the car through @switchcars in January of 2009 with 1242 miles on the odometer to Mr. Gladfelter in Arkansas. Switchcars purchased the car from him in June of 2012 with about 3800 miles. After servicing it at @porschenortholmsted it was sold to a client in Ohio, who then traded it in to @porsche_beachwood in early 2013. They sold the car as Certified Pre-Owned with 7804 miles to their buyer in North Carolina. In 2021, Switchcars purchased it once again from the owner in NC on behalf of a client in Colorado, and it sold this time with 11,864 miles. During this time it has been maintained well, has been kept free of accidents or damage, and was only tracked one day by the owner in Ohio. The car is all original paint with the exception of the front bumper which was refinished to correct a dime-sized mark. The owner in NC had the front crank seal and rear main seal replaced, as well as a new starter installed, all of which was covered under the CPO warranty. Since the motor was out to replace the seals, he had the coolant lines welded. This work was performed at Beechmont Porsche in July of 2014. This RS is an incredible example that is virtually blemish-free. The ECU readout is clean with only a whisper in range 1-2. It is up-to-date on maintenance. It is fundamentally stock with the exception of a Sharkwerks center muffler bypass (does not affect emissions), and WEVO engine mounts (originals included). Included with the sale are service records, CPO paperwork, original window sticker, laminated Proforma, all books, tools, two keys (one with the factory leather pouch), and a Porsche car cover. GTvault Exclusive: GT3 #3458 was sold new in 2010 via Harper Porsche in Knoxville, TN, and remained with the original owner until being sold on Rennlist in 2016. At the time it was listed, the following description was used: "One owner car owned by PCA member and Porsche employee since new, this GT3 has been maintained with no expense spared. Never seen rain, salt nor snow. The undercarriage photos attest to the incredible condition of this car. This GT3 has never been tracked. No accidents nor paintwork." The car was bone stock other than Xpel PPF, Black Sharkwerks exhaust tips, and Porsche Sport Pedals. "OEM Plus" upgrades were black stone guard decals and brand new factory carbon Sport Buckets which were added by the dealer (not originally ordered with the car). Maintenance was performed for the original owner yearly at Harper Porsche, the RMS was replaced in 2014, and new tires were installed in 2014 - they are still on the car and are due for replacement by time. New TPMS sensors were installed in 2019, and all factory recalls have been performed. Yearly oil changes were also done by the second owner as well as brake fluid flushes in 2013 and 2019. The original lightweight battery has been replaced with an Interstate-brand battery. The PPF was aging out, so new Xpel PPF was installed in 2021 covering the full front end including headlights, mirrors, and rocker panels, work performed by @buffandbeyond The car has two owners from new, has always stored in a climate-controlled facility on a battery tender, has no accidents, no paintwork, no track time, and no stories. It is a desirable specification with the Dynamic Engine Mounts and PCCBs. It comes with two keys, window sticker, books, factory tools, Centerlock socket, Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and DME report showing zero overrevs. This is one of the cleanest examples on the planet. This GT3 is yet another prime example of the lack of relationship between condition/quality and how many owners a car has had. Porsche GT cars in particular tend to trade hands often in between collectors who rarely drive them but service them regularly. GT3 #2452 is a great example of how a car can get better through trading hands, as each of the last three owners have added service, underside detailing, PPF, tires, or reverting back to stock parts, and it is now better than it was three owners ago! This GT3 was purchased by Switchcars on Bring a Trailer in 2018 and sold to a client in Colorado. During his ownership he improved the car, performing a major service and having a comprehensive detail and ceramic coating applied, including a chassis detail. He drove it barely 2k miles and traded it back on a sweet little yellow air-cooled number. The second time Switchcars had the car for sale, the original owner's dealer reached out to us and reaffirmed how meticulous the original owner was in caring for the car. The car was traded back to Switchcars twice in the next two years, and each owner further improved the car, including annual services, PPF installation on the front end, new Michelin Pilot 4S tires, and removing the aftermarket intake & steering wheel and sourcing brand new OEM items.
