Who is she?! I get some frequent questions, so I thought I’d give everyone a few details about me. The resume stuff: I have been teaching 9 years, and I am currently teaching in San Diego County, California. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, a Master’s Degree in English, and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and I am currently getting my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. My dissertation is focusing on the impact of stress on first year teacher’s relationships with their students. The personal stuff: I’ve been married 14 years to an amazing man with whom I have two kids, boy and girl (you won’t see them on here but I tell stories from time to time). My goal: I love teaching and my goal is to help support my fellow teachers with humor through satire and sometimes, brutal honesty. I plan on remaining in the classroom until I get my PhD and then transition into helping support new teachers in a college program and through my social media presence. How I started: I started making videos last year in an attempt to try and build a community of teachers. I know one of my goals is to write a teacher survival guide, and having an online platform is a great way to interest publishers (still accepting interest in THAT endeavor, btw). I have found that this journey has connected me to so many amazing educators and I feel so fortunate to also have been able to start a teacher merch business and content creator side hustle to help pay for my graduate school endeavors. Multiple choice has its place, but I loved using these to sprinkle in something fun. ✨Soundtrack Assessment✨ students relate topics, themes, characters, or ideas from their study focus to a selection of songs.
