“An ode to life, to joy.” “Laughed so hard I forgot how one is supposed to behave in a museum.” “As soon as I leave this show, I want to come back…” Reviewers and critics are literally on fire 🔥 about the Ragnar Kjartansson show ‘Epic Waste of Love and Understanding’ which opened here just a week ago - “impossible to think of a more magical place to see this great artist’s work,” states German culture channel Das Erste. . The “eternal” flame pictured here sits on top Kjartansson’s mock-up plywood monument, which is engraved with the exhibition title and stands proudly in front of the museum for the duration of the show. A Louisiana summer includes exploring exhibitions inside the museum galleries, visiting the shop, enjoying a lunch or dinner (or both) in the cafe and most definitely a walk in the Sculpture Park. Here you will find the most beloved panoramic view of the Sound and more than 40 sculptures from the collection. 💦 If you should need to cool down during your visit, there is access to the beach and jetty (which is designed by architect Jean Nouvel) through the gate on the lower park level. You can re-enter the museum from the main entrance by showing your ticket. The museum and park is open Tuesday to Friday 11-22. Saturday & Sunday 11-18. We are looking so much forward to this Friday 9 June, when the big summer exhibition with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson opens! Free admission from the afternoon at 16. Ragnar Kjartansson (b. 1976) takes a both loving and critical look at Western culture. Love, identity, melancholy, masculinity, power and powerlessness are among the artist’s central themes. The exhibition – EPIC WASTE OF LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING – fills the museum’s South Wing with a wealth of different media: painting, sculpture, performance and major spatial installations including film and music. A selection of the artist’s best-known projects is conplemented by early works as well as entirely new ones created directly for the exhibtion. Please note, that Ragnar Kjartansson along with the museum director Poul Erik Tøjner and curator Tine Colstrup will welcome you all in front of the Old Villa at 17.30 on Friday. Today we remember the great, German artist Hans-Peter Feldmann, who sadly passed away 26 May. Hans-Peter Feldmann has become a ‘classic’ – both in Louisiana’s collection and in the history of the post-war avant-gardes, and is widely recognised as “a pioner of artistic appropriation”. This includes his untitled modifications of old paintings, which are mostly copies of famous works he has picked up at auctions or in antique shops, where he with both warmth and humour then has worked on in various ways. The works included in the museum’s collection have both red noses, a squinting dog and a significant tan line. All images: Hans-Peter Feldmann, Untitled, undated. Works shown first in detail and then full work. #louisianamuseum #louisianamuseumofmodernart #louisianacollection #hanspeterfeldmann @simonleegallery @barbarawien @303gallery
