Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Serene Koh @Serenekohxt

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, my name is Serene Koh a mixed Chinese-Thai.

I am currently studying in Republic Polytechnic, Diploma in Business Applications; Year 3.

My daily routine consist of Gymming, attending Events, getting my Beauty fix and sometimes Working as a Freelance Talent/Brand Ambassador.

My wish is to strive for perfection in beauty, but not to become a bimbo. I also love to take part in competitions where it will shape me into a better person be it in aesthetic or intelligence.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I usually talk about beauty, fitness, and photography.

My Instagram is mostly sponsored post related to beauty, fitness, and food that feature my face/body. FYI I am not self-obsessed. I used to take a lot of long exposure photo but it seems that not many people know how to appreciate it, they don’t know much time and effort is needed to produce those photo 🙁 However, nowadays I stop taking up food offer because I am trying to advocate a lifestyle of healthy eating. I won’t mind if you were to invite me over for a meal that I won’t feel sinful after eating.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name @Serenekxt comes from my name because I don’t want to be anyone but myself.

English name: Serene Koh
Chinese name in Hanyu: Xu Xiang Ting

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

MeituPic – Retouch for Anti-acne and Slimmer face
VSCO – The Vibrant Classic and Hyperbeast x VSCO are my current favourite filter to use for a themed Instagram feed.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@intricked inspire me the most, I love his portraiture photography and hope to be as skillful as him someday.

Most of my Instagram photo are remote control otherwise self- timer to self-portrait, therefore, it is hard to achieve the best result nevertheless, I will keep trying until I get it. We must be reminded that there is no master in the world, everyone is an apprentice that never stop learning.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

The Original Tansie, a post-tanning onesie created for sunless tanning lover out there.
Be it spray tanning or self-tanner lotion, The Original Tansie keep your tan settled in place and also protect furniture from getting stained.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I enjoy being the first few to be exposed and experience the latest product in the market hence sharing with people around me.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Allow influencers to have their own way of conveying a message and creating their own content for the post. No one likes to see the similar image (provided by brand) floating around Instagram as it is not an effective way of broadcasting a message, most people will just skip that particular post regardless of how different the description is written or who is the person that posted it.

I usually research on the brand credibility before taking up any offer, I don’t want to recommend goods/services that aren’t reliable to my followers. I also make sure I give my most honest review.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Personal views are the most original content, there is no need to rush for a post because more time spends mean better quality content.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like that I get to discover many brands & products where I never came across and being able to learn about different method of marketing. Knowledge is power! At least I have something to recommend to friends if they asked about a particular product/service.

I will also eventually become their consumer if I find that the product/service works for me.
