Sigh, where do I even begin when I have so much to say… 🙆🏾♀️
So, as many of you know, Yesterday was Show Day for Your African Bald Baddie and My Goodness… to my surprise, something happened, something that truly moved my heart, I am still so beside myself about this experience… Yesterday, at the @ultimategrandprix , I was recognized and awarded as the most INSPIRATIONAL athlete !!! I am in tears typing this bc if you know my story, you will understand that I walk a life that aims to Motivate and Inspire, especially in this sport… my story is one to learn about and I say this bc I have learned sooooo much from my very own story…
See, The sport of bodybuilding is already such a lonely sport, lonely because of all that goes behind the scenes on competition prep and no one talks about Mental Health in this sport and these are the conversations I want to have, as bodybuilders, we go through the most, we are already involved in the most difficult sport in the world, one that is more mental than anything else and we choose not to talk about it! I want to change this narrative!
In short, those that don’t know my story… I, for the first time admitted that I went through depression during COVID and having to go through a terrifying breakup that left me shattered and I resulted to alcohol, that’s where the weight gain came in, alcohol was my Vice to numb the pain but it took one picture to turn my life around and commit to the sport, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, I knew it would be difficult but we did it anyway! Today we are here… being recognized for all the efforts and hard work and I couldn’t be more grateful, honestly, I could have never done this alone, I had a support system!!!
My Coaches @totalufitnessstudios @totalulife
