Monument Valley dreams / Charcoal on paper

Land talking to the sky… a collection of “Pastel Meditations” original artworks now available on my website. 🌞🙏🏼

Made up worlds in pencil

Pushing my drawings of Monument Valley a bit further…and larger. The past two months I’ve been deep at work storyboarding and illustrating a children’s book, and as a mental breath between, exploring these magnificent landscapes in charcoal.

Sketches of fog at Monument Valley.

Poppy No. 22 in pastel.

There’s a simplicity in the west that inspires me. A place where the weather unfolds across its expansive skies which leave you humbled and in awe. Land that appears sparse from a distance, but within it lies a trove of magic and abundance; quickly contrast by its collection of sun bleached bones serving as a stark memento mori. I feel lucky to have spent the past week learning the art of natural plant dye with @edieure_ @ranchlands, where each moment seemed to be a testament to the power of conservation and meaningful experiences on this beautiful land.

Maybe Ireland felt so dreamlike because it’s a world away from desert life. Dewey sunrises blanketed in fog and the most incredible symphony between the raindrops and the birds. An Emerald Isle I would very much like to visit again.
