DEBRIS (Mexico City, 2025) In the historic setting of a deconsecrated church in the heart of Mexico City, artist and composer Gabriel O’Shea unveiled his debut album, Debris, in an immersive live performance that blurred the boundaries between sound and spatial intervention. The work, conceived as an auditory requiem for a world in decay, explores the dissolution of certainties, the erosion of faith, and the emergence of technology as the dominant force in contemporary spirituality. For this performance, O’Shea collaborated with musician Matt Castillo (@matt_castillo6.6.6 ), reinterpreting the compositions of Debris through live instrumentation and vocals, expanding the album’s sonic textures into a physical and immediate presence. The event was further heightened by a bespoke olfactory composition, surrounding the audience in an atmospheric synthesis of scent and sound. Attended by over 250 guests, the performance functioned as both an invocation and an elegy—a space where the echoes of the past collided with the digital specters of the future. ___________ En el marco histórico de una iglesia desacralizada en el corazón de Ciudad de México, el artista y compositor Gabriel O’Shea presentó su álbum debut, Debris, en un performance inmersivo, difuminando los límites entre el sonido y la intervención espacial. La obra, concebida como un réquiem auditivo por un mundo en decadencia, explora la disolución de las certezas, la erosión de la fe y la emergencia de la tecnología como fuerza dominante en la espiritualidad contemporánea. Para esta actuación, O’Shea colaboró con el músico Matt Castillo, reinterpretando las composiciones de Debris mediante instrumentación y voces en directo, ampliando las texturas sónicas del álbum hasta convertirlas en una presencia física e inmediata. El acto se vio realzado por una composición olfativa que envolvió al público en una síntesis atmosférica de aroma y sonido.
