Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

Since the beginning of June, these majestic creatures have been spotted along the southwest coast, marking an early beginning to the whale shark season in Seychelles! Whale sharks, Rhincodon typus, are truly the gentle giants of the ocean. They are the largest fish in the ocean, reaching lengths of up 18 meters. Despite their enormous size, whale sharks are filter feeders, primarily consuming plankton and small fish as they glide through the water with their massive mouths open. Found in warm tropical oceans around the globe, they are known for their distinct spotted patterns, which are as unique as fingerprints. Be sure to book a guided snorkel with our resident @wiseoceans Marine Biologists for a chance to safely snorkel with these ocean giants ✨ 📷 @chris_rasta

Up close encounters with the gentle giants 🐋✨ Since earlier this summer and coinciding with the migration season, the majestic whale sharks have made regular appearances in our resort bay - a rare sighting and a splendid discovery for our guests! Yesterday, we witnessed several whale sharks spanning up to 12 metres roaming the waters off of our beach and feeding on plankton.   For anyone lucky enough to witness these creatures up close, it is important to avoid touching whale sharks as it can cause stress or harm to the animal, as well as pose a risk to swimmers. Whale sharks have a protective slime layer on their skin that can be easily damaged by human touch, exposing them to potential infections or injuries. 🎥 @islandsoftuberose #FSSeychelles #FourSeasons #Seychelles #WhaleShark #BucketList #MarineLife
